“Poor 4 Star - even by Spanish Standards!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2007

I have just returned from a week in this hotel along with my 2 children & partner. Expections of it being of 4 Star Spanish standard (2 to 3 star in UK & Ireland) were unfortunately not met.

The Good!
Hotel was well maintained and clean. Staff were friendly. We were fortunate to get a family room on the 4th floor

The Bad!
The lift only goes to the 3rd floor - not so good for baby buggies. (rest of the way is by stairs) The standard rooms and balconies are the smallest I haver ever seen (I had a peek!) - exactly 7 feet wide.
Rooms are cheaply fitted out - camp style beds, cheap laminate flooring, small 14" TV, Aircon control did not work, no plastic key cards, musty bathroom ( mouldy shower curtain). The swimming pool and sunbathing area are very small - total width of this area is about 15 feet.

The Ugly!
The restaurant is far too small for the size of the hotel. In the evenings there was always a queue to get in (arriving early or late didn't matter). Breakfast was a little different - you had to find your own table - many time we used the bar. In fairness the staff worked very hard to clear tables - they doen their best. The food was a pretty limited buffet affair with a continuous scrum to get food. After 2 nights, we abandoned this and eat out every night.

Summary
The hotel was OK but there are many better and cheaper ones available in Lloret. We shall not be returning.

“Do NOT go there!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2007

I have just returned from the Augusta Club hotel where i stayed for 7 nights, with my boyfriend. We were expecting a 4 star hotel but unfortunately we found a very small room that you could barely move in, without a refrigerator or a hair-dryer and a restaurant that felt more like a canteen.
The food wasn't very diverse and the restaurant personnel was very noisy and disturbing instead of beeing helpfull. Furthermore, on quite a few ocasions the table we sat at was not clean. If that wasn't enough, the hotel was situated extremely close to a block of flats and our balcony was just a few meters away from some local people's balconies and windows...you can imagine that the view was amazing!
There were, of course, some positive aspects about the Augusta Club, like the fact that it was not located in a noisy area of Lloret de Mar and it was very close to the main shopping street.
All in all, I would say that this hotel should not have more than 2 stars.
Lloret de Mar, on the other hand, is a very nice resort, especially for young people. It has lots of clubs and discos and a very active night life. I would go the Lloret de Mar again, but never to Augusta Club!

“Hard to beat for value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2007

My wife and i stayed here for a week and thought it was great value. Yes it had a lot of Spanish and French guests but the simple rooms were clean and comfortable, staff friendly and we always found enough food (HB).
The walk to the beach was 10-15mins but it was an ok walk and that gave us the chance to stock up on supplies (sandwiches, beer etc, etc) on the way there and back.
Overall it was great value and we will probably be back in the next 12 months.

  • Liked — Value for Money
  • Disliked — Very few British in the hotel - although that was also quite refreshing as we were in Spain.

“Great value at Hotel Augusta Club”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2006

Let's face it, nobody goes to Lloret de Mar for the beauty of the surroundings or the delightful ambiance. That said, we would recommend the Augusta Club for a very good value break in a small (by Lloret standards) well-run establishment. The hotel is spotlessly clean, well maintained and staffed by helpful, hard-working Spaniards. We were with a French tour operator on an all-inclusive break. The rooms are basic, but adequate and comfortable - even the strange beds! We experienced no noise nuisance at night other than the odd traffic sounds. The food was plentiful and varied but may not suit Brits looking for the full english or fish and chips. The hotel is only a few hundred yards from the bus station with an excellent service to the station in Blanes, connecting to the trains for Barcelona. All in all, well worth 160 euros each for the week.

“Bring your earplugs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2005

We were diverted to this hotel at the last minute by Skill's coach tours after originally booking The Royal Beach Hotel. On arrival we thought we had been taken to the narrow backstreets of Beirut. We were told that the hotel is rated as a 3 star but I can honestly say that I have stayed in many 2 and 3 star hotels in the past and this hotel is no-where near the standard of any of them.
The bedrooms were drab, small and basic , the beds were no more than camp beds.
The noise of yobs shouting, mopeds, cars hooting etc. goes on throughout every night (we went in March) and is amplified by the overlooking flats which are situated only a few yards away. I never managed more that 2 hours sleep all week.
We had to have the patio door open ajar as the hotel air conditioning wasn't working.
There was a poor choice of food in the undersized restaurant which lessened after the initial crush. We decided to avoid the crush and dine later waiting up to half an hour for a table to become available only to find that the were little more than scraps left.
We were finally relieved to be going home but were left wishing we had more time to recover before having to restart work.
