booked this hotel with thomson's so expected a fairly good standard and we had just stayed at another hotel in Salou the week before, no comparison. On arrival we had to pay extra for parking, which was not even that close for taking luggage to room. Room smelly and dark as faced other rooms. Expanding foam in door frames and looked as if eaten away. Tried to contact Thomson to change hotel but could not contact them and no evidence of any Thomson rep or literature so gave up. Decided as only staying three days we would make the best of so asked for change to a lighter room, which we were given, on the sixth floor, room was much better. Food was not great especially breakfast when difficult to find and keep a table. Head waiter came out and looked more like a mechanic by state of overall, staff not that friendly. Noticed Spanish were given crisps and olives when buying drinks at the bar, we were not - this is not usual practice in Spain as usually some form of snack is given with drinks. Enjoyed watching the Spanish enjoy their dancing, the Spanish people were lovely and polite. Didn't use pool as no changing room and would need to go through reception wet, and to be honest didn't look that inviting.
This was a budget holiday so did not expect much but certainly didn't get much. Cleaner and more friendly would be nice.
