If you go to Lloret de Mar, you want to party. In our case it was our daughter, so we looked for shelter from the buzz at Lloret. The only choice semed to be the Roger de Flor Hotel, because it is in the City(actually above it, you walk to down steep stairs) and you have a brilliant view over the place(200m from the beach) and over the ocean.
In short, the building is terrific, but sadly the Hotel Management has decided to abstain from any service.
The rooms are 70s style and were not renovated since. You do not get bathrobes, a safe, water cooker, mineral water, internet access, a shuttle service down, tea with breakfast, any capuccino(other then have guests run the mnachine at the bar), clean glasses with breakfast etc, while you pay healthy rates.
The Hotel is run by a chain(Husa) who have obviously decided, to squeeze the facility by running it with young and inexperienced staff and only within office hours(example: the cleaning of the breakfast room starts, when the guests arrive at 8 a.m.)
Next to the facilty itself it has to be said, that the pool is well maintained and offers sufficient space.
We did not use the restaurant, but the meal looked tempting.
So, anyone who wants to go to Lloret (or has to, as in our case)may choose the Roger de Flor because of it's wonderful Hardware. Be prepared for substantial weaknesses on the software though. Obviously the best days of this Hotel have passed and we could not detect any sign of willingness to change that.
