I stayed in this hotel with my sister on my first ever trip abroad in August 1962 and we were amazed by it at that young age and 48 years on it didn't disappoint. My partner and I stayed sadly only 2 nights earlier this month, I had brought a photograph of myself and my sister standing at the pool 48 years ago!! We were welcomed so warmly by Alex and his team you would have thought we had been there every year for the last 48!! We were very kindly given a room upgrade and everything was just perfect.
The food in Restauarnt Freu was delicious...we did the "Menu Freu World Tour 2010" it consisted of 10 courses of dished from around the world it was nothing short of 1st class in terms of tast and presentation. We were attended to by Laura who was absolutely delightful, the wines which also came as part of the meal were from around the world also. The Monterrey Restaurant also served excellent food in the evening and a simply fantastic buffet breakfast.
Obviously in 48 years things have changed somewhat, been upgraded etc., but the gardens are still magnificent, the pool is huge (if a little cold), the Nautica Bar by the pool is excellent, and maybe more importantly the staff were friendly and only too willing to help with any queries you might have.
People say you should never go back - the memory of something good is always better than it may be on a return visit but for me this wan't the case the trip down memory lane was well worth it.

Thank you so much for your lines which we will share with our entire team. As you see, some things become better with age. ;-) But we truly hope we will not have to wait another 48 years to have you with us again at the Hotel Guitart Monterrey. :)
Best regards to the Emerald Isle.
