This was the first choice hotel prior to our visit to Jilin based on other reviews we read on Tripadvisor. When we got there, there were a number of "problems" at check-in:
1) We were a party of four and had two bookings. For the first booking, we booked a king size bed room but were given a two double beds room. The hotel tried to make it up to us by honouring the second booking with their supposed presidential suite (which had mould in the ceiling of the bathroom - it was right on top of the shower, so that did not bother us much as there was no leak from the ceiling).
2) The hotel did not provide us with a "room rate card" which confirmed the rate. When we asked for one, we were told that everything was in the computer and that everything was okay. That seemed strange because we have never been denied a request for a rate card at every hotel we have been before. This turned out to be a non-issue as the invoice provided at check-out indicated the rate as quoted.
The cleanliness of the hotel is probably the best feature of the hotel. There were no visible bugs and the bathroom was virtually spotless. That is quite impressive given the age of the hotel. Wired internet was provided free of charge.
Because of our check-in experience, we decided to move to Empire Garden hotel for the second day but that turned out to be a mistake. (See my review of that hotel.)
