This is my first time to Yangzhou. The overall look of hotel is good. The room is clean and pretty good size. It was December and the insulation of windows is pretty poor. As someone from US; we are use to be able adjust room temperature to our only need. However; the heater just can’t push the temperature up. Maintenance guys show up and measure the temperature difference between the vent and near the window is as high as 5 degree C (or 9 degree F). It seems they even shut the heater off during the night.
I would say it is typical for Chinese owned hotels and really can’t say that I am disappointed or surprised. You have much lower chance to run into this type of problem for American chain such as Marriott hotels. I have stayed in many small hotels in China and most of them have the same problem; you just have to be aware they don’t maintain room temperature like US hotels.
I also used their room service and it is just average. However; I go straight between hotel and factory. I did not have any time to walk around the hotel but it is clear there is not much to see. You probably have to walk a pretty good distance in order to find a good restaurant.
