So...Saturday night and needed a place to stop over on my way home to PA. All the hotels around the top of NC were fairly expensive for a quick sleep-over. I hopped on Hotwire (as someone below mentioned) and this popped up (under a 2 1/2 star rated property) at a rate much lower than the going hotels in the area. Of course, you don't find out until after you pay as to what hotel it was.
Anyway, the hotel itself looks kind of old, but I think that was just the design of the building. The staff that I encountered were all very friendly. Rooms were very spacious and clean enough for me. Some dust here and there but nothing that I would call "disgusting". There was some wear that could be seen (eg. some slight paint peeling, some carpet wear) but not enough to impact my view too much. Rooms were nicely stocked with the usual, as well as choices of coffees and teas, which was a nice touch. The beds were amazingly comfortable for a hotel in this price range. I fell asleep in no time at all. Breakfast is your usual "expanded" continental breakfast. Cereal, juice, bagels, waffle maker, etc. Nothing special, but good enough for most, and there were plenty of tables to eat at. My only real complaint is that the wireless internet was pretty poor and slow..so probably want to look elsewhere if you are a business traveler and need to do a lot of work. There was a computer in the lobby but I did not use it during my stay. It is tucked back a bit from the "main drag", but there is just about everything you can think of along this I-95 exit. You can even walk to the adjoining shopping center, supermarket etc, if you needed to. Overall, I would have no problems staying here for several days if I was visiting something in the area....very good value.
