“Very Nice Hotel in an Excellent Location”

I stayed at the Sheraton Raleigh for a convention in December of 2011 and really enjoyed the hotel. It was well situated in downtown with lots of dining options, the hotel itself was very clean and the staff was friendly. My room was really nice. Some one had posted some sort of bug picture on this site (which made me worry a bit before I traveled here) but there was nothing of the sort there!! It was a well decorated, clean, nice looking room and I would definitely stay here again.

There was a Winter Fest kind of event going on right behind the hotel on the Saturday night of my stay and, being from Minnesota, it was really weird to see them trucking in snow for the kids to slide on and/or play with (even eat!) There is a free downtown shuttle just a block away to hit the attractions. I didn't necessarily need to run across the street to Jimmy John's while there as the hotel restaurant was pretty good!

As for the convention facilities, they were great. They had nice, spacious rooms with meeting areas that accommodated our group. The staff was helpful and friendly in meeting any needs that came up.

“2nd stay & much improved!!!! will return again and again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I just returned from my 4 night stay at the Sheraton and I am happy to say that this property has improved in needed areas and added some great options for NC STATE PARENTS. My son attends NCSU and given that I stayed here once before and it is so conveniently located to the school, I decided to try it again to see if a few things had been changed and improved upon. I enjoyed my last stay here, but the reviews were not so good so I needed to check it for myself.

First off, check-in was soooooo much better than I experienced last time as the front desk was pleasant and helpful . After traveling almost 6 hours to get to Raleigh from California I can't tell you how nice it is to be greeted with a smile and a courtesy "welcome" which I received both.

My room was club level which includes additional amenities that are well worth the little extra they charge to enjoy this level. I would check for the ability to be upgraded to this level if at all possible and/or check the rates when booking if the club level is available, if not the rooms throughout the hotel are all very nice. My room had 2 Queen beds which were extremely comfy with soft linens. The room was clean and fresh, the TV was working without any problems and the bathroom was very nice. I was impressed with the bathroom amenities (Mandarin Mint scented) as I haven't seen bath puffs before in other properties or shave cream in a tube...nice touches and a little different. The shower had good pressure and everything was in working order. My room also had a coffee maker which had Starbucks coffee and tea. The club level concierge includes: Breakfast, afternoon snacks hot and cold, beverages including coffee, bottled water, juice etc(beer and wine Monday thru Thursday) and a great ambiance to just catch up with friends and family or work associates. The club is available 24 hours by keyed entry if you need to go grab a bottle of water, a soda, milk or a quick snack...BIG PERK!!!!! The concierges are amazing and so friendly, a huge asset to this property and will keep me coming back.

The indoor pool is really nice for lap swimming and was very clean. The fitness room was up-to-date and clean as well with lots of free weights and cardio options.

One really important perk I want to mention for the NC STATE parents and families thinking about staying here: The Sheraton has added a special rate package for NC State families that includes transportation to and from the campus!!!!!! This is a huge perk . I took advantage of this during my stay and let me tell you, the relief of not having to hire a taxi everytime I needed or wanted to go to campus was incredible. Our transporation was handled thru a wonderful driver named Dante. He made my day over and over by being readily available for me when needed. He gave me his business card and all he asked was that I give him an hour heads up before I needed his services. He was on-time everytime and greeted me with a smile....THIS IS ALL INCLUDED IN THE RATE...no extra fee for this service! I would suggest contacting the hotel direct to inquire about this package to insure you book properly!

It is obvious to me that this property is making great efforts to please their guests by making improvements, which means they are listening and care. The rate to stay here is very competative and not as high as some of their neighbors right next door and in the surrounding area. Downtown has lots to offer with many restaurants within walking distance, bars, shopping and the like. The R-Line is free and another great option to see the Downtown area. Keep up the great work Sheraton and I will be back again and again!

“Very nice, but a little pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed here Feb. 10-12, 2012. We chose this hotel primarily because it was within easy walking distance from the Amtrak Station ( about 3 blocks ). The Marriott is also close to the train station, but it is more expensive. Never having been to Raleigh before, I did not know if it would be safe to walk from the train station to the hotel @ 9:00 PM. but an Amtrak engineer, who was deadheading back home on our train lived in Raleigh, and assured us that the area was safe. There are, of course, plenty of taxis waiting outside of the train station.

The room was clean, spacious, and quiet. The mattress was comfrtable - we both slept soundly. There was a flat screen, hi-def TV, with all the needed channels. I did not check out the pool. The restaurant had a reasonably priced copious breakfast buffet - I do not like to have to wander around a strange city in the morning looking for something to eat.

When you walk outside of the hotel, the Convention Center is across the street. There is also a stop there for the "R" bus, which loops around the downtown area every 15 minutes or so - and is free. So, if you need to stay in downtown Raleigh, I don't think you can do much better. There are many less expensive hotels out near the airport, but then you need to rent a car. I had to make my arrangements on short notice, and could not find a reasonable airfare. Amtrak was cheap, very comfortable, if a bit slow ( not that driving would have been any faster ). I would stay here again, if I were going back to Raleigh, though, as others have noted, it would be even nicer if someone else was picking up the tab.

“Gets the job done at a decent price.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

This hotel is nicely located in downtown Raleigh. When I need to be in Raleigh I choose between this and the Marriott. The Marriott is newer and nicer in most ways, but I still prefer the Sheraton for two reasons. First, I have always paid much less at the Sheraton and second - despite the facility's shortcomings, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
On the positive side, the rooms are a fine size and reasonably clean. Showers have good pressure and temperature. Beds are Sheraton standard and fine. WiFi is easy to use and reliable. Front desk and food service staff have always been very friendly and helpful.
On the downside, the elevators are painfully slow and you can wait quite awhile for one. I parked a car and found the parking garage across the street dirty and a little scary. Despite my concerns, I parked there many times and never had any trouble.
Overall, I would stay again based upon value and service.

“Great Business Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

This was my second second stay at this Sheraton property. The room was comfortable, quiet, and even though I arrived REALLY early (like at 10 AM), it was ready! It's nothing fancy, but it's convenient and well-priced and the staff are very friendly. Had a very nice lunch in the restaurant and several adult beverages in the lounge and both experiences were quite good.
