We settled into this beautiful Hilton property for a college graduation in the area. The location of the property is centrally located to Durham, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh. The mall is right across the street and the PNC Bank Arena is less than 5 minutes away. Check in was rapid and hassle free. There is an attached garage and surface parking that made it a breeze to get in and out quickly and efficiently.
The room was well appointed, spacious, and cleaned immaculately. We were on the fifth floor adjacent to the elevator and the noise from the elevator was inaudible inside the room. Actually there was no noise from the outside that was audible in our room and there were events going on Saturday night at the hotel We had two very comfortable beds, a spacious closet, adequate lighting and a nice HD TV in the bedroom area in the Suite. The "living" portion of the Suite had an easy chair, a three person pull out couch, a very nice desk area with a comfortable chair and Inet access via wired ethernet hook up or WIFI. Inet was $9.95 a day, which surprised me somewhat considering the type of hotel and the per diem rate. There was also a HD TV in the living area. The channel selection is very limited on the in-house system but we could find both sports programming and cartoon type stuff for the kids so "adequate" is a good word to describe!
The bed comfort, amenities in the room and the housekeeping made this a great place to stay.
The lobby is incredible and has multiple streams and fountains flowing in and through it. The free breakfast is served in this beautiful lobby and is excellent. Egg stations, bacon, sausage, fruits, pancakes, sausages, omellettes, waffles, biscuits, donuts, etc, make this one of the best complimentary buffets in the business. They also have complimentary drinks from 5:30 - 7:30 PM in the same area. Topping off the aesthetics of the lobby is the wood and stone work that adorns each floor of the hotel up to the opaque glassed ceiling 100 feet above the lobby floor.
The Bistro Bar is an excellent place to grab a beer or drink and watch sports or sit and chat. It is comfortable and the staff there were excellent. The bartenders there made milkshakes for the teenagers in our party, which I thought was going way passed the normal service standard, for a bar staff at 11:00 PM! Thank you to them for the great service.
The pool is clean and showering facilities and ample towels are avaliable and conveniently located to the pool/hottub area. There is plenty of seating around the area even durig the busy times. There is also available outdoor seating of you want to lay in the sun, outside, surrounded by high hedges for privacy. The exercise rooms were stocked with plenty of equipment as well.
I was very impressed with every aspect of our stay there and would highly reccomend this venue to anyone staying in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. Thank you to the management and staff for a great weekend!
