“Excellent despite severe hassles this weekend”

We went to Raleigh, NC for 2 reasons: to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and to shop for gowns for her upcoming wedding. The hotel experienced a one hour power outage at 4:30 on Sat., July 23, 2011 during the constant and extreme 105 temps this week; then, at 9:30 pm on Sat. night, the fire alarm went off due to a sprinkler system malfunction! We all had to go to the parking lot for an hour. But Fairfield Inn Raleigh Crabtree could NOT have been BETTER to us!!! Wow, what service!!! They gave EVERYONE in the hotel a FREE NIGHT!!!!! Furthermore, they had the air on, the water on and the system back up within an hour or two. Breakfast the next morning was just astoundingly good!!!!! And all free!!! I will go there again, they were WONDERFUL, even in the hardest of times!!! And all front desk people were 100% friendly!!! WOW, the best of the best!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: The rooms were great! No complaints!

“Good Value. Clean. Comfortable. Quiet.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2011

The hotel itself is a little difficult to navigate from once you are there. You can only turn right out of the main entrance on to Glenwood and then have to travel several blocks to u-turn. However using the back way out is very easy although the hotel staff didn't mention that until I asked.
I found the hotel very comfortable and was amazing by the comfort of the bed. The hotel was clean and quiet. The free morning breakfast was very good with a wide variety of choices.

The hotel staff were always very friendly however I was a bit concerned when the desk clerk suggested a nearby restaurant and then didn't know how to get there...turned out...if you go the back way out the restaurant was within 1 minute of the hotel...

Otherwise very pleased overall with the hotel and staff...I would stay there again...

“Clean, comfortable. Needs a remodel/update”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

Pretty ordinary. The room was pretty clean (except some staining on the walls). The refrigerator was old, the TV was old, the furniture didn't match and there was a slight musty odor. Though it appears the curtains and desk chair had just been replaced (they were the new, bright green color present in newer Fairfields), the bedding, carpet, and bathroom wall paper were older and didn't match.

Located in a great wooded area with some other nicer hotels and fairly easy access. Lemonade and yummy cookies were available on check-in.

“Needs updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2010

This hotel has seen better days. The rooms are average, but without refrigerator and microwave. The breakfast was standard. While we were there, there were family reunions and weddings, so we did not get much sleep. In the same complex, there is a Courtyard, Residence Inn and La Quinta, I'd try one of those.

“I expected a lot more”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2010

Well, I would like to say that I am a Travel Agent so when I stay at hotels I try to look at it from my client's point of view. I was in room 407. The Ice machine was broken. When I informed the staff (Michael at the front desk) I was advised that there was no problem there were ice machines on every floor. No apologizes for the inconvience. I went to the 3rd floor to get ice and there wer black spots in the ice. Again, I advised Michael of this and he said "Oh, that just means the filter needs to be changed." No Michael, that means that I have black speaks floating in my drinks. I requested a refridgerator because I saw one outside of another guest room and figured they had them available upon request. I asked and they did provide me with a refridgerator..the one that I saw in the hallway just a little bit before. I wouldn't have noticed had they bothered to clean it..which they didn't. I advised Michael of this and guess what...he stated that all I had to do was wipe it out. Amazing. He did eventually send up a wonderfully clean refriderator but only after he made me feel that I was bothering him when I could have just wiped out the nasty, beat up refriderator, that had been sitting in the hallway for Lord only knows how long. Nice. The first night we were there my husband & I wanted to sleep in so we put the Privacy sign on the door. When we left the room around 12 noon I stopped by the front desk to ask the young lady if we were to late for housekeeping. She assured me that my room would be taken care of while we were out. Not. Of course when we returned the young lady was gone and (Oh Lord) Michael was there and he stated that since we had the sign on the door when housekeeping first came by that is why we didn't get service. Can these people please get on the same page? Nonetheless we were out of towels, soap, washcloths, etc....which we could get from the front desk but maybe an apology for the lie the young lady told us previously would suffice. Nope..he couldn't care less. On a good note the brakfast was wonderful and they do allow pets. The staff is horrible and your money is better spent at another hotel.
