Love staying at the Castle. Great options for multiple rooms and beds. Highly reccommend.

We just returned from another stay at The Castle, and enjoyed every minute. We stayed in a villa for this trip, and while we missed the delicious breakfasts served to the B&B guests, we certainly liked our villa, including the screened-in porch where we enjoyed our a.m. coffee and breakfast (as well as a few lunches and dinners!) The villa was extremely comfortable and included all the comforts of home. Kudos to the gardener for maintaining the grounds and flowers - beautiful! Thank you to the wonderful staff who provided us with a fan to use as "white noise" to lessen the night-time disturbances caused by the family in the villa above us.

Be sure to take advantage of the bikes that are offered to guests at The Castle. We rode the bikes every morning (be sure to ride to the Fig Tree Bakery...yummy pastries!) The pool at The Castle is a great way to end a day spent on the beach.

Ocracoke Island is by far our favorite getaway. Thanks to everyone at The Castle for making our vacation so special. We'll see you next Summer!

My fiance and I were looking for a slow paced, relaxing place to get away from it all and we found just that on Ocracoke Island. We stayed at the Castle on Silver Lake B&B and were very glad we chose to. They treated us like members of their family for our entire stay. We stayed in the Lake room which was absolutely beautiful. Our room was pleasantly spacious enough for the two of us and also had a very large jacuzzi tub! You will not find a better breakfast than the one you will have at the Castle. They make breakfast fresh everyday and you can enjoy as much as you would like. The lifestyle on Ocracoke was like nothing I've seen before. Everyone is so friendly, from the people waiting tables at the restaurants to the tiny shop keepers. If you take the time to drive up the coast of the island you will find the beach to be almost deserted. We drove right out onto the beach everyday and didn't have anyone within 500 yards of us! It was be far the best vacation I've ever had!!!

Very pleasant place to stay -- full of character. A huge house that has been converted into an 11-room B&B. It's not a hotel in the conventional sense, so if you want hotel amenities -- room service, pool, gym etc. -- go elsewhere. For example when we arrived at about 9:00 p.m. there was no staff person there to check us in -- just an envelope with our name on taped to the front door containing the room key, directions and a welcoming letter. Our room itself ("Sam's Room") is beautifully furnished, and the beds are comfortable. The cooked breakfast (included in the room rate) is superb. The availability of free loaner bicycles is a nice touch. The location is perfect, right on the harbor front, walking distance from the lighthouse. The ladies running the place couldn't have been more friendly and helpful . There are cheaper places to stay, but $180 (including taxes and a huge breakfast and bicycle use) for three people didn't seem unreasonable for this one-of-a-kind property. Highly recommended for those who are open to the B&B approach.
