We arrived at this hotel at approximately 1 a.m. on the 9th of July after a very horrible experience at another local hotel. The staff was very friendly and always greeted you with a smile.
We got to the room and it was refreshing. The room smelled wonderful, the linens were fresh and the beds were made to perfection. The bathroom was spectacular and provided soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. We were very happy to find this room at a reasonable price and convenient location. The internet service was super-fast. The beds were very comfortable and I haven't slept this good in a long time.
I didn't get a chance to go swimming due to business with family, the pool was kind of small but it was probably no smaller than any other pool at a hotel in New Bern (5 ft depth, I believe was the maximum).
The television was a big Philips HD/Plasma, great picture and sound, the room seemed to be sound-proof, we didn't hear any ruckus going on in the adjoining rooms.
We left the room, with our computers and belongings on the beds, and returned, and there was a note left by the maid, that they sincerely apologize for not being able to make the beds because they are not permitted to touch personal items. She met us and apologized again, and asked if we would like her to make our beds, but it's no worry to us. She was very sweet and she cleaned our bathroom for us.
The continental breakfast was great. First morning, I had a cheese omelette and sausage links from their buffet, and the second morning I had biscuits and gravy and the cinnamon rolls are amazing. There's a great variety of breakfast items there.
Before we left, the lady up front shook my mother's hand and we felt very welcome, it was truly a pleasure. This will definitely be our top choice of places to stay when we return to see our family in New Bern. Thank you Holiday Inn!!!
