My husband and I loved it here. Our villa had a loft bedroom overlooking the living room and another bedroom on the main level. Also, on the main level the jacuzzi looked out onto the screened in porch and a little lake. Free Wifi was available in the recreation building along with a small room of exercise equipment. Several other guests were enjoying the indoor pool. Two computers are available for half hour sessions, but it's better to bring your own. The Hurricane bar serves delicious drinks and we especially enjoyed our New Year's Eve meal here: stuffed shrimp appetizer and prime rib accompanied by a perfect risotto. Our compliments to the chef! A side trip into New Bern to visit Tryon Palace is well worth it; the ticket is good for two days so you don't have to rush through the three houses, palace, blacksmith shop, grounds and welcome center in one day. We particularly enjoyed our visit with two ladies at the Hay House who invited us to sit and chat with them and never once slipped out of character while we sat in their parlour in front of a warm wood stove! The grounds even had blooming plants in December and a wonderful kitchen garden. The Cow Cafe serves delicious milkshakes. Java Cafe has the best hot cocoa I've ever tasted with marshmallows and whipped cream topped with a drizzle of hot fudge sauce and it's made with Ghiardelli chocolate! We highly recommend lunch at Morgan's. We'll definitely be back to New Bern and Sandcastle Cove!
