“The Best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

My fiance and I stayed here and were married on the beach on Sunday. I cannot say enough about the staff, the views, the cleanliness, etc. Everything was perfect. If you are looking for a five star resort, this is not the place to stay. This hotel has recently been remodeled, the staff was just superb in every way, and we could not have asked for more. We will return again.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for oceanfront.

“Will not return...poor service, strange odors, and an "oceanfront view" of a parking lot!”

My husband and I traveled to Nags Head for a wedding two weeks ago. We chose to stay at Nags Head Inn because it was just steps from the wedding venue. When we arrived, there were two women at the desk. One woman (Anna, I believe), was very nice and asked us for an ID and credit card. The other woman at the desk said at that time, "you know not to ask VIP's for their credit card, right?" Well, I am obviously not a VIP, but that was still a very rude comment to make right in front of me. What a way to start out a trip by having one of the desk clerks say something like that to make you feel unimportant. When we got to our room, it smelled heavily of air freshener, and once the air freshener settled, the room took on a sweat-like odor. We got an oceanfront room, but really it wouldn't have mattered if we had gotten a street view because when you step out onto the balcony, the first thing you see is not the ocean, but a huge parking lot. I am just glad we were only there for one night, because I would have been devastated to have had to stay any longer than that.We will not be back to this hotel.

First let me apologize for the misunderstanding at check in. The “VIP” that was mentioned when you checked in was the name of a group that we had that weekend – The NC Lions VIP (Visually Impaired People) Fishing Tournament. The local Lions Clubs put on a fishing tournament each fall and we try and help out by providing rooms for the some of the participants and the many volunteers that come to help out. It is the world’s largest fishing tournament for the blind and visually impaired. (Please see their web site www.ncvipfishing.org)

I am sorry that the room was not to your liking. When the hotel was built we were required to have a buffer zone between the building and the ocean which is why the hotel is situated as it is on the site. All of our oceanfront rooms regardless of floor have a 180 degree ocean view.

“Great Place & View On The Outer Banks!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

This hotel is a great place to stay when at the Outer Banks. The hotel was completely remodeled back in 2009 and it looks great! The staff is all very friendly & are like family. The continental breakfast is good with sweet potato & sweet potato and ham biscuits made fresh daily by Kelly's restaurant right down the street. The rooms are very clean and the bathrooms as well. The price was great compared to others on Virginia Dare Trail and they always seem to have some type of special. The pool is small but nice indoors and heated and a newer hot tub also is included. The only con I have is there are no sliding screen doors in the rooms allowing the nice weather and ocean smell to come in. I was advised the reason is because of the salt air corroding them and the need to replace them. I found a website that may help with that issue. http://www.backyardamerica.com/screen_wire.htm
There is screen that will stand up to the salt air and ocean and I really think by having them will be a plus for this very fine hotel. It will also help cut down on the fly and mosquito's that are always buzzing around. Also the Wi-Fi is very strong to keep in touch with family and friends and the new flat screen TV's with Direct TV was great as well. Last of all are the beds. I wish I could have taken that king size bed home with me. It was VERY comfortable!
along with the couch by the ocean windows.
My advise? This is a great place for your visit to the Outer Banks.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent! Just remember, the higher the floor the better the view!

Thank you for your review. We are glad that you enjoyed all of our upgrades. Our high thread count linens coupled with really comfortable mattresses and pillows really do help our guests to get a great night’s sleep (the sound of the ocean waves doesn't hurt either).
The management and staff are pleased that we were able to provide you with an enjoyable stay while you were visiting the Outer Banks. We will look forward to seeing you again soon.

“A great hotel!”

I stopped and checked out several hotels in the Nqgs Head area and choose this one. We did no have reservations but were promptly checked in. We choose a king size bed on the 5th floor on the ocean side. The view was great and the room was clean and well maintained. The hotel grounds were also clean and modern. There is a small pool and a jacuzzi that I used that was great after a day on the beach. The hotel also gives out fee passes to the YMCA which was exceptional. The staff was friendly and gave suggetions on what to do while in the area. The location next to the beach was great and there is easy access to and from the parking lot. He internet connection worked well in all areas of the hotel.
I normally travel off season and go to Mexico. This was a quick vacation to the outer banks area and felt this was a great place for a quick getaway. Hard to believe that it got any bad reviews. Plan to return here again if rooms are available.

Room Tip: Do not choos the second Do not choose the second floor ocean view. Try 5th floor for best view o...

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. Our indoor pool is a great way to relax after a visit to the beach. We are glad that you were also able to take advantage of our association with the local YMCA. It is a great facility and is just a short (less than 3 miles) drive from the hotel.
The staff and I are glad that you had a good visit with us here at the Nasg Head Inn. We hope to see you again on your next visit to the Outer Banks.

“We really liked the hotel and we will be back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We stayed at the Nags Head Hotel last week and unfortunately had to cut our trip short due to Hurricane Irene. We found the hotel to be very clean with an excellent location. It is just a very short walk to a beautiful beach. It is close to the Dunes and other tourist attractions. Lots of good restaurants within a few miles of the hotel. The view from the rooms facing the beach is nice but the parking lot behind the hotel takes away from the beauty of the beach. Also found the continental breakfast to be lacking. The sweet potato and ham biscuits are just so so. A little more variety would help such as cereal etc. All in all a very good experience. Please keep the stay 3 nights and get the 4th night free or even something shorter like stay 2 nights and get a 3rd night free.

Room Tip: If you get a beach front room make sure it is in the middle and not on the end. The end rooms have s...

Thank you for your review of the Nags Head Inn. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. Our location in Nags Head is convenient to most of the tourist attractions, historic sights and wonderful restaurants that are here on the Outer Banks.
Having a portion of the parking lot between the hotel and the beach is necessary to protect the building from the storm surges that may occur during passing hurricanes and nor’easters.
We are sorry that you had to check out early due to Hurricane Irene. The hotel fared well during the storm and we reopened after the mandatory evacuation order for visitors was lifted.
We hope to have you stay with us the next time you come back to the beautiful NC Outer Banks.
