I only had 2 weeks notice to find a hotel for only one night during high season. I read reviews and checked rates for every hotel in the Outer Banks. This place was VERY CLEAN (exception: no older beach motel is going to have the carpet you'd have in your home) and the best price I found for a motel right on the beach. Staff was friendly and helpful on directions and restaurant recommendations. Quiet. No frills. The full size bed was not that comfortable, but it was only one night. I would definitely stay here again if I could book far enough in advance to get an oceanfront room.

This was a a hidden gem. 40 something units, about 10 of them ON THE BEACH. You would have to pay twice the amount for the proximimity to the beach anywhere else. I believe owner operated (literally). We don't have pets, but accepting pets is a great plus and were not intrusive. Especially if you're at the beach. Fantastic views and steps from the sand. Near everything. If you want 15 floors of concrete at the beach, its not for you. If you want and know ocean beach charm, you know what I'm talking about. I'll be back when I'm on the island again will recommend to all.

I just spent a week at the Dolphin with my husband, father and dog. We all enjoyed our oceanfront rooms. The managing family was extremely nice and helpful. My dog enjoyed playing with the children and swimming in the ocean!
We have stayed there before and will be back again!

The Dolphin Motel sits right on the beach, the walk from your room to the sand takes no longer than thirty seconds. The cleaning staff was wonderfully friendly and the rooms are well kept and very comfortable. The owners and family are very friendly and polite. We have nothing but good things to say about the Dolphin, we will all be returning in the future.
