“Sitting on Andy's porch...”

For those of us who grew up with the AG Show this is a once in a lifetime treat. Guests have the entire house available for their group. There are 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen,a deck, and a backyard with barbecue/hibachi. We enjoyed having take out in Andy's kitchen, reading the many articles framed around the home, exploring the memorabilia, and watching AG Show DVD's. You will have a stream of visitors until evening stopping to look at the house and take photos, though no one disturbed us or actually came on the property. I wish there was a booklet in the home explaining the transitions and changes made to the house so that we could envision what life was like there for Andy as a youngster. The home was sold to another party when the elder Griffith's moved out to California in the late '60's.

The home can be rented through the Mount Airy Hampton Inn. We did feel the heat was not functioning properly and discovered a few light bulbs burned out, so if you are there for more than one night check the house out carefully and report any issues to the Hampton Inn. They are located less than 5 minutes away. We stayed for only one night so it was not possible/too late to correct these issues.

Room Tip: Return to Hampton Inn in the morning for the buffet breakfast.
