We booked a double suite and enjoyed our room. The room was very clean, well appointed and comfortable. The beds were comfortable, with nice sheets and decent pillows. The sofa and desk in the suite area were comfortable for working, and the room had plenty of outlets for plugging in all our chargers. The free wireless internet worked well, without no connection problems. The bathroom was super clean, and the shower had plenty of water pressure. The manager's reception featured beer, soda and local wine, with cheese and crackers. Not what you'd get at, for example, an Embassy Suites, but a nice touch. The included breakfast featured cereals, fruit, breads, pre-made cheese omelets, sausage, and a nifty pancake maker. The quality of the food was okay; at least the omelets were kept hot enough.
We did not have time to use the other hotel facilities, although the indoor pool looked very inviting. Next time I will try out the whirlpool. I also saw a business center located off the lobby that looked well equipped.
The real stand-out of this hotel was the staff. Everyone we encountered was very friendly, efficient, and helpful. In true Southern fashion, be prepared to chat for a while, because they love to have conversations with their guests.
Since I have family in the area, I've stayed at most of the Mt Airy hotels, and I'd say this is the place I'd return to next time. The Hampton Inn, just down the street, is nice too, but this location is newer and slightly cheaper if you have any special rate, such as AAA or AARP.
