I will preface my review by stating that we are a part of a travel baseball team, and we are in different hotels on a monthly basis. This is the first negative review that I have ever felt compelled to write.
Our trip to this hotel started in March, when I first called and made reservations. Because we were coming as part of a baseball team, for a routine baseball tournament that occurs regularly in Morganton, we made the reservations for Friday and Saturday, until we found out if the Friday would be nescessary. On the Thursday before our stay, I called to cancel the Friday night, because they were not playing early Saturday morning. When I called and spoke with Todd, he reconfirmed all of the information that I had given before, reconfirmed the reservation, and sent me another confirmation email. All was set and ready to go. Saturday came, and we headed out for Morganton, around 10:45 am. After the games and dinner, my husband went to check in, and they said he had NO RESERVATION!! He promptly called me (I had driven back home) and asked me what was up. I got out the confirmation information and shared it with the girl at the front desk, who said, bascially, that they had had a question about our reservation, and had tried to CALL ME AT HOME THAT MORNING, BUT DIDN'T GET AN ANSWER AND SO THEY CANCELED THE RESERVATION!!! Seriously!! I said to the girl, 'you did not call me this morning, because I was home, but if you did call me late morning, of course I did not answer, I WAS IN MORGANTON!!!! So, the problem at that point was that they had only a single bed room left instead of two doubles, so I told her she would need to contact another hotel, and find them a room. At this point she told me that there were not many hotels in Morganton, and that they would not be able to find them a room. Finally, another family on the team said that they had been given a room with two beds, and there was only two of them, so they offered to trade rooms in order for the guys to have enough space.
Wait- it gets better......so, they guys head to this other room, and found that it had no air on (it was 88 degrees that day) and- I hate to say this, an unflushed BM in the toilet. SOOOOOOO DISGUSTING!!!
Wait- it gets even better......the next day, the hotel manager, "Ann" calls me again, at home (thank goodness I was there this time!!) and says to me "I understand you had a problem with the hotel last night?" and I told her that of course we had a problem. She stated that she wanted to know what she could do to fix it, and I told her that they had done NOTHING to help our situation last night, that we were only able to resolve the issue because we worked it out with another person in our party, and that there was nothing that she could do now, THE DAY AFTER??? She did state that the front desk was supposed to find another room for them at another hotel, like I had suggested, and, after much exhausting heated discussion, she stated she was going to give us a 10% discount on the room. Really. I made sure she knew that I was an avid TripAdvisor fan, and never booked a hotel without much research, and that I would be sharing this experience with this site.
I hope no one ever has the same misfortune of having to stay at this hotel.
