“I'm going back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2010

This was my, ours, first trip. I've already booked several rooms for Oct. I'm taking my entire family there for a nice, relaxing, do what you want, weekend. Where can you go and they have a fire pit and supply the wood? I have read the other reviews and don't have much of an opinion except there is Vegas, Reno, and other nice places if that is what you require. The prices are very good, location is great, Tom and staff will make your stay comfortable. We rode our bikes, great place to park and not worry. Creekside is a must. I guess there is someone for everyone, a place for everyone, this place suits me.

“In serious need of renovations.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2009

This motel has a problem with spiders. The 1st 15 minutes we were there we killed spiders in both rooms. They smelled of stale cigarette smoke and when we went to open the windows and curtains there were lots of spiders and webs. We killed them in corners and on the ceiling. The motel is extremely old and it does not look like the motel on the website. There were no rocking chairs out front ,just old green plastic chairs. We have been going to Maggie for 40yrs and have always stayed in the mom and pop motels and they have been very nice. Unfortunately this was not one of them. This motel needs some serious renovations and cleaning. I wish I would have looked at the rooms before I paid the bill.

“Cozy Motel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2009

We stayed at Rocky Waters over the week-end. At frist I didn't think I would like it because the rooms seemed small. But soon found it to be cozy with the creek on the grounds to walk by and the rocking chairs out front to sit and relax after a long day at Ghost Town and around the shops in Maggie Valley. The owners were so kind and friendly and their cats greeted us, too. One thing that suprised me was the water presser in the shower. Most motels stayed out has low water presser, but this was wonderful!! I took my time and enjoyed the water. When our stay was over I felt so relaxed from all the stress of everyday life, so renewed. It was a wonderful visit. We enjoyed the area very much and will stay at this motel again sence we found it. It is not the top of the line motel, but it is a nice cozy little place to relax and renew.

“It is a .......blast from the past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2009

When I was a young child I stayed many times with my family at the Rocky Waters motel. We always stayed in a cabin on the river and I have some wonderful memories. When my dad passed away a couple of years ago I "drug" my husband to Maggie Valley and insisted that we stay at Rocky Waters. It was older and it was not nearly as "fancy" as most of the places we have stayed but I enjoyed it tremendously and found the owners to be friendly, kind, and courteous. My husband recently passed away and again seeking the "comfort" and the memories, I took my youngest son and his little boy up there. It was wonderful. No it's not a 5 star resort but it is clean and it is safe and quiet. It doesn't have a spa or a game room but it does have a creek to listen to and it is safe to walk out of your room at night. I would recommend Rocky Waters to anyone seeking a place to "make memories". And if you head that way this weekend.......you'll find us there again. :o)

“Stinky”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2008

We went there for one night. The floors were wet I am assuming from the air conditioner. We were told the price was $49.00 a night were charged $79.00 a night. This was not acceptable. We negotiated it to a lower price but it was still to much. It is an older place which did not bother us because we like to visit older motels/hotels. We do expect them to be clean. The floor was so nasty you couldn't walk without shoes. The smell was the worst. We were offered other rooms but most smelled the same. One night was enough.

  • Liked — It is located on a beautiful river.
  • Disliked — The smell
