“The perfect home-base for a mountain vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I've had two wonderful stays with Mr. Andy and Mrs. Linda at The Valley Inn. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hospitality is true southern hospitality at its best. The creek is the perfect place for quiet morning coffee or reflective time in the evening at the end of a day enjoying the beauty of God's creation. As a single female traveling alone, I felt completely safe, even when sitting outside alone after dark.

The Maggie Valley location makes it easy to enjoy both the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's less than an hour's drive from the Asheville airport. I'm looking forward to my next trip back to Maggie Valley and The Valley Inn.

“Absolutely Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

This place was just perfect. It was clean and quaint with an amazing staff. We were three young girls and they treated us just like family. They built us a fire, they even went out and bought us the marshmellows! If you stop in Maggie Valley you have to stay here. The little creek in the back was too cute! We LOVED it here! Wish we didn't have to leave!

I wish there was a rating between poor and average. Poor is too bad but average is too good, The room was extremely small and claustrophobic; however it was very clean. The ceiling was so low and the room long and narrow. The heat source was from a portable heater that was too loud to run. The walls were extremely thin. We thought there was somone taking a shower in our room - it was so loud. We actually got up before sunrise, brushed our teeh and came home. I think we were there less than a total of six hours. Also, our room faced the creek but there was no parking available for us in the back. When we arrived back at the hotel around 1 am we had to park in the front and walk to the back where our room was. That was less than desirable. We definitely would not stay there again. The price we paid ($121) for what we got was over rated. Felt like we wasted our money.

If you had a problem with the size of your room, all you had to do was let us know and we would have gladly given you a full refund and re-rented to someone who would have enjoyed their visit to The Valley Inn. We know you checked in early enough to do so, because we do not check folks in at 1 AM. Given an opportunity we may have found you a room in Waynesville more to your liking. To address your concerns, and I have to assume I have the right party in doing this. We do not do 1 night reservations in October so it was easier to figure it out. There is a picture of room 43 ( king size bed) on our website so you had an opportunity if you wanted to view before booking. We have larger king rooms and we have smaller queen rooms. Rather, I believe you booked because we made a special exception for a Saturday night only reservation and upcharged you because it was a special event (National Clogging Championship) on a high color weekend. I imagine there would NOT have been another room in town available for a Saturday only booking at ANY price. So I guess no good deed goes unpunished. We just measured the ceiling to be certain and it measured exactly 8 feet. The electric heater was just checked out and found to be in good working order and not excessively noisy. This Inn was originally built as a ski lodge and the walls range from 8 to 10 inches thick and in 18 years we have NEVER had one noise complaint from an adjacent room. There is a room with a whirlpool tub on the opposite side of that room but it is highly unlikely for someone to use that between 1 AM and 6 AM which is the time frame you say you stayed. Also, about the parking, we do have a few limited parking spaces in the rear of the motel. This comes in handy for loading and unloading but not enough for all the creek side rooms upstairs and downstairs. They are on a first come first serve basis and frankly I think we may be the only place in the valley that has any parking on the creek side available. This in where I usually offer a free night for a future stay, but I feel that in your case, you had a bad evening and regretted coming on a premium priced weekend. Room 43 is actually one of the top 3 rooms requested by our frequent visitors so I must assume The Valley Inn is not for you.

“Friendly, Peaceful and Comfortable”

This was our first stay at The Valley Inn....it won't be our last. The Taylors are friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, neat and comfortable. The creekside rooms are delightful. If you are looking for a great place to stay in the Maggie Valley area, this inn is for you.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a creekside room. The stream running along outside your room is great!
