“Awesome Wedding Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

I have to say that this was the perfect setting for a casual, downhome wedding with friends and family! Ginger and her family were always there with a smile and were the epitome of "customer service"....they felt like family after our 2 day stay!!!

The lodge is very rustic but comfortable and the food was "down home" and delicious. It was well worth the drive up the mountain and I would go back again and this time, rent the cabin.

I would like to take this opportunity to say how much we at Smokey Shadows Lodge regret that you had an experience as you described. Every customers is very important to us and its very upsetting your expectation were not met above and beyond. I was not aware of any of this at the time of your stay or I would have addressed these issues immediately.
During the time you spent at Smokey Shadows there was an employee that was not demonstrating the expectations that our customers deserve and expect. There is no excuse for the conditions and poor service you received. My deepest apologies.

Of course that employee is no longer employed here.

We enjoy all of our customers and have taken much pride for over 28 years sharing this wonderful Lodge with so many families that return year after year.

I would like to invite you back on us and show you Smokey Shadows is a special place.
Thank you,
Ginger,
Owner

“Perfect mountain get-away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2009

We were looking for something off the beaten path and rustic---weren't interested in fancy nor resorty and this exactly fit my mental picture. We were convenient to Maggie Valley and Waynesville but were tucked a mile or two off a secondary road in the mountains. We stayed in Shindig, a 106 year old log cabin with a stone woodburning fireplace. The interior was also log. Loved it and would return again!!!

“Authenticity with a view!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2008

As we pulled up the mountain I caught a glimpse of the lodge behind the trees to my left, it was just like a movie. I realized immediately all I read and heard about the Smokey Shadows Lodge would be true. We were greeted by Ginger and Meg, both so friendly you felt right at home. They had a large crowd for dinner that night and I had talked with Ginger earlier in the day and she asked if we would have dinner with them. To say the least the food was fantastic (almost as good as my Granny's) and the service was seamless, there was no wait from course to course and the desert was home made shortcake with fresh strawberries. Over the next two days of our stay we got to know Meg and Ginger like old friends you want to go back and visit again real soon, we felt kinda like we were leaving family behind at the end of the weekend.
I must regress and tell you about the front porch and the view. If you are a fan of nature and beauty, you will be blown away. I can say I traveled to Alaska, Caribbean, Orient, and Europe, nowhere is it more beautiful. I am a friend of the Smokies so I may be a little partial, either way I am sure you would agree with me. In closing I can not suggest another place to stay in Maggie Valley that you will enjoy as much as the Smokey Shadows Lodge.

P.S. Meg, pet that old cat for me.
