As we pulled up the mountain I caught a glimpse of the lodge behind the trees to my left, it was just like a movie. I realized immediately all I read and heard about the Smokey Shadows Lodge would be true. We were greeted by Ginger and Meg, both so friendly you felt right at home. They had a large crowd for dinner that night and I had talked with Ginger earlier in the day and she asked if we would have dinner with them. To say the least the food was fantastic (almost as good as my Granny's) and the service was seamless, there was no wait from course to course and the desert was home made shortcake with fresh strawberries. Over the next two days of our stay we got to know Meg and Ginger like old friends you want to go back and visit again real soon, we felt kinda like we were leaving family behind at the end of the weekend.
I must regress and tell you about the front porch and the view. If you are a fan of nature and beauty, you will be blown away. I can say I traveled to Alaska, Caribbean, Orient, and Europe, nowhere is it more beautiful. I am a friend of the Smokies so I may be a little partial, either way I am sure you would agree with me. In closing I can not suggest another place to stay in Maggie Valley that you will enjoy as much as the Smokey Shadows Lodge.
P.S. Meg, pet that old cat for me.
