“Top Family Destination and Group Cabin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I am the Youth Director for a country club in Atlanta. We have stayed at Smokey Shadows for 8-9 years now. It is located on the way up the mountain to Cataloochee Ski Resort. This makes your drive to the slopes very short. The kids love the big family room and kitchen. I love the two hallways in the main cabin for all the bedrooms. We ski all day Saturday and return to the cabin around 5pm every year. We order in pizza, make hot chocolate, and create s'mores. The kids entertain us with talent shows and we play games. The adults are able to relax by the fire and watch TV. The cabin is always decorated lovely for Christmas. There is nothing better than turning on the Christmas tree lights and having snow outside. The group gets up early on Sunday, has breakfast, and heads back to the slopes. The cabin is always clean and ready for us. Ginger and Bud are great hosts. They have the fire wood ready and greet us at the door. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. I can't wait to come up and experience spring, summer, and fall in Maggie Valley at Smokey Shadows.

Room Tip: Each room has a different view. Rooms on the left side of the 2 hallways face the mountains and woo...

“Mountain Hideaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Smoky Shadows is the ideal place to celebrate Fall and Halloween. Ginger and Bud Shinn throw the best parties in the Valley, with live bands, great food, fun, and fellowship. Family members, local friends, and guests have a wonderful time together. There's a costume contest on Halloween, so people of all ages, including kids, get in on the action. Solo travelers are not alone very
long, because the Shinns welcome you into the fold within minutes of your arrival.

“Amazing B&B!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2011

Every year my husband and I go to Hilton Head Island in June. Last year we had our wedding there. On our drive down, we decided to stay in Maggie Valley, and wanted more of a B&B experience. We found Smokey Shadows through google and gave it a try....BEST DECISION EVER!!! It is an amazingly place with wonderful views, and even better hospitality! We loved the cozy feel of the cottage we stayed in, and the overall feel of the lodge. (Being an antique lover, they have some really great antiques there!)

We just stayed there for the second time, again on our way down to Hilton Head, for our first year anniversary. We had an even better experience this time! And the Tomato Pie was delicious!! YUM! We have decided that we are going to make Smokey Shadows an anual stop on our road trip from to Chicago to Hilton Head every year. Hopefully, this will be a great memory for our children that we'll have some day! Thank you Ginger, and we'll see you next June, if not sooner!
