“Terrible Hotel”

We stayed overnight in this hotel March 2010. This hotel had roaches so bad that we had to sleep with the lights on. I placed a cup of water on the counter and by morning there were several different size roaches in it. We also found roaches in our luggage when we returned to New Jersey. We will never stay in this hotel again. I must state that this was the hotel we chose to stay in for a least 5 years straight when we came to North Carolina, we don't know what happened to it, we guess it is poor management.

“Found some problems here that need attention!”

Spoke with both daytime and nightime front desk staff before arrival and both were very unfriendly over the phone. When we arrived we found them to be just the same in person! Upon entering the room they gave us we immediately noticed the paint peeling off the ceiling and the walls in both the sleeping area and bathroom. Next we checked the mattresses on both beds (since we heard alot about bedbugs) and found that one of them had a brand new box spring under a very old, stained mattress that proved to be uncomfortable as well. The other bed had both an old box spring and old, stained mattress also. There were no mattress protectors on them which we believe all hotels should have these days. Another odd thing was that the dresser and nightstand in the room had no handles to open the drawers! We also look forward to a refrigerator and coffee maker on our overnight stays and there were problems with them too. The frig had a rusted shelf in it and there was only decaf for the coffee maker.
We did not have enough time for any of the amenities as we were just stopping there shortly on a long road trip.
The location was good because it was easy off and on the I-95 when travelling from the northeast to and from Florida.
Would not stay there again and would not recommend this hotel.

“LOCATION, LOCATION”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

The location was great for my trip. Easy on/off access to I-95. I was going to Darlington, SC for the NASCAR races and this hotel was within 40 min. to the track. I asked for a room near the lobby since I was traveleing alone and they accomodated. Rooms were very low budget but didn't spend very much time there. The hotel does not get the Speed TV network so that stung a little bit especially since I was traveling for race reasons. The room was not very clean, the breakfast buffet was marginal and the shower was lacking in water pressure. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a five. I paid $60. nightly a little overpriced considering the overall condition of the complex. On a side not the staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the Hotel Lobby

“You'll have to be desperate to stay here.”

The room was mediocre, the atmosphere depressing. In haste, I left an expensive pillow there. Repeated calls to them were answered in the same way - 'Oh, we'll ship it in the morning'. A friend happened to be going down 95 a month or two later and stopped and pretended to be me. Sure enough, the pillow was stuffed under the counter, no name on it and I'm sure no one had intended to ever mail it. I had even offered to pay for shipping, but no one bit. At least I retrieved it - give em credit for not dumping it, but how long did plan to hang onto it?
