I just spent several days in the high country of North Carolina. I was so fortunate to stay at Gable Haus. The location was ideal - central to Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, Sugar and Beech mountains, and the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. Gable Haus is located in the arts district of the village of Linville. It is a easy stroll to the Old Hampton Store, the Arts Council, and galleries. Great hiking, and good fishing streams are close by as well as first class ski resorts. The Haus itself is a charming farm house with cottages. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful. The comfy rocking chairs on the front porch are not to be missed. The decor is beautful, warm and cozy and the rooms are clean, welcoming, and well appointed. The owners, Norma and Eric, are fantastic hosts. They are there to attend to your every need but are very considerate and sensitive to personal privacy. The full breakfast was served in the inviting dining room. It was healthy and delicious. They have some of the best coffee I have ever tasted.
If you are in the high country, this is the place to stay!
