“Magical time, with a couple of exceptions”

Stayed a week over Christmas in one of the condo/town-homes. Our unit was furnished in an 80s motif, but was clean and modestly furnished with most of what we needed.

Due to the sloping terrain, some buildings require several steps up/down to the units (ours had 30+ steps), which would not have been too much of a problem, but we were graced with a very white Christmas of 8 inches of snow. The scenery made all the more special. The problem was there was no shovel for clearing a good footing out of the unit for our elderly parents.

One other disappointment, we were teased with a large functional fireplace. Unfortunately, there was a sign prohibiting its use due to rules by the association.

All that said, the area was beautiful, the unit clean, and kudos to the municipality that kept the mountain roads clear for driving between Asheville proper.

“Foxrun - the most beautiful area I've ever been to”

We chose Foxrun because if was close to Asheville and was part of a golf resort. The condo was fine with plenty of room and everything was in good shape and clean. The resort is part of another, larger resort called Rumbling Bald which had a lot of amenities which were available to us. We went in Nov. because we wanted to see the color at time of year and it was fabulous. The golf courses were great and located right in the mountains. We were treated very well by everyone there and Asheville had some great places including the Biltmore House and the Grove Park Inn. The mountain roads to and from Asheville and curvy and you have to drive very carefully but the scenery is great. I've never seen such bright colors. Since we were there the first week of Nov. some of the amenities were closed for the season, but thata was no problem for us as the golf courses stay open all year. The whole trip was great and we would gladly do it again.

“One of the nicer timeshare exchanges we've had”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

This review is of the Fox Run Townhouses, within the Rumbling Bald Mountain Resort. This was an RCI exchange, and was one of the nicer exchanges we've had. We were lucky enough to be assigned a unit overlooking the lake and the surrounding mountains, but be aware that most of the units overlook woods (and lots of deer). The unit was spacious and clean, but the furniture is old and the kitchen minimally equipped. You'll want to stop at the Ingles supermarket just south of the lake on Rt. 9 on your way to check in, as it is a 15 minute drive away on very windy roads. Ingles is brand new, and very nice. I recommend taking the sightseeing tour around the lake, to further understand the area - it's very enjoyable. The on-site restaurant - Lakeview - is mediocre but convenient. The casual food bar at the Bald Mountain golf course - Legends - has good pizza and other food. La Strada - a restaurant on the lake - was also quite mediocre, but some people raved about the pizza. Golf was good: the Apple Valley course (part of the resort) was excellent, and the other resort course, Bald Mountain, was good - and both were reasonably priced. Another great nearby course was called Cleghorn Plantation, near Rutherfordton.

“Avoid!”

The people who run this place are heinous. On our last day, we asked for a late checkout. They gave us an extra 30 minutes. Come the original checkout time, they began calling us telling us we had to leave. Granted, we were a little slow, but they called every five minutes to harass us.

This ruined the memory of the trip. They have no concept of customer service. They are total, complete jerks. The rooms were dirty. It was a bad experience.

Avoid these people and their nasty customer "service". They're creeps.
