I and my wife have stayed here for 3 weeks, so far. We have found the staff to be quite friendly and helpful. Being it is an older building(as most in this area are),sure it needed some T.L.C., that we were happy to give it, but that's what we do. Most of what we needed was right across the street. The bed was nearly new, quite firm and clean. The room was comparably priced for the area. We have had no real complaints. We have stayed at far worse places around the country, but not for long I assure you. No, it's not the Ritz, but it is a far cry from Hell, and it's getting better. We would stay here again if we are in the area in the future.

“WORST "Hotel" EVER, Bugs in bed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2009

While the Inn was obviously dirty and low tier, we hoped for a short night of descent sleep before heading home in the morning. When we peeled back the stained and ragged sheets, there were bugs in the bed. Not just a cricket, but earwigs and ants too. One might assume if you can see bugs, there are probably others that you can't. My pregnant wife was completely disgusted, so I went to the front desk to check out. After being told I would receive a full refund in the morning when the manager returned, we left and checked into the Holiday Inn Express.

Upon receipt of my credit card bill, Country Hearth Inn only refunded the card about 25% of the charge. I first called the Kinston location, and was told the manager was not available. I then called Corporate Headquarters, and spoke with someone there who said I would receive a call back. I did not. I again called the Kinston location, and spoke with a female manager, who in very broken English told me they would not refund my money. I called back again and spoke with a male manager, who in broken English asked for descriptions of the personnel I dealt with when there. He said he would call me back in 24 hours. Again, 48 hours and no call back. I called again today and was told there was no manager. When I insisted, i was transferred to the female manager. Again, in broken English, she rudely refused to pay because we had "used the room." I tried to explain that you have to "use" the room to enter it and pull down the sheets. She hung up on me.

Bottom line, the facility is very dirty, worn, smells bad, and has bugs in the beds. As if this wasn't bad enough, they lied about the refund, never ever called me back after multiple attempts to contact them, hung up on me, and have now attempted to steal my money. Thankfully I paid with Visa, and have disputed the charge.

This place is the single worst hotel experience I have ever had. I would rather sleep under a bridge.

“A joke”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2008

OK well where I start!! Checked in got to room it was well, ummm u get what u pay for I guess! The only nice thing in the room was the new TV and ac unit! The bed was older then I am! Then as I am trying to unpack I start noticing the nastiness to the room! Come to find out the motel is double wide trailers put together end to end! Very cheap! U can hear everything going on! Stains on the towels sheets! Nasty! Hair in the shower and on towels! Room stunk like mold! The heat was on full blast when I came into the room! To try and dry out the mustiness and mold in the room! Mold was all over the ceiling as well! TV channels they said that there were a bunch! HA!! NOT!! And being a day’s inn they are suppose to supply high speed internet! HA HA HA!!!!! I called several times and complained about the net! Nothing got done, they said oh it work fine up here at desk! Well no crap! They are hard wired up there! I called to ask for a wake up call for 7:15! Didn’t get that! Was late to a meeting! When I called to complain about it! She said does u have an alarm clock I said yes! She said well then use it! That was the last straw for me! I had enough! I called the 1 800 days inn number got no where with them! So I checked out! And the nightmare continuous! I stayed a total of 3 nights they try charging me 284 dollars for 3 nights! Are u effin kidding me? Went round and round with them! No discount for the nasty room no net nothing! So I told them it was fine I will have my bank take care of it! Don’t stay there!

“Worst hotel ever!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2006

We arrived in Kinston Saturday night for an event Sunday afternoon. My room was OK, but my brother received a room where the paint was not yet dry. There were nails sticking out of the carpet. He asked for a new room and they gave him a room with all the furniture from the other rooms they were fixing up. He had to go back to the paint odors and dodging nails. I saw the room and agree that this hotel should have not rented out this room.
Additionally, the rooms are dirty and the coffee is bad. The manager is unfriendly and unprofessional.

“Just Okay”

I reserved a room with this hotel in March of 2005 and stayed in October 2005 so you would think I would get what I reserved right? Wrong, I reserved a king size smoking room and when I got there "all they had left" was a double non-smoking room. Well I can deal with that. But when I got there the room was dark and damp. The bathroom was decent at least, but the floor sloped down into the bathroom. I might recommend this hotel to someone who wants a semi-cheap night with no other place to go.
