While the Inn was obviously dirty and low tier, we hoped for a short night of descent sleep before heading home in the morning. When we peeled back the stained and ragged sheets, there were bugs in the bed. Not just a cricket, but earwigs and ants too. One might assume if you can see bugs, there are probably others that you can't. My pregnant wife was completely disgusted, so I went to the front desk to check out. After being told I would receive a full refund in the morning when the manager returned, we left and checked into the Holiday Inn Express.
Upon receipt of my credit card bill, Country Hearth Inn only refunded the card about 25% of the charge. I first called the Kinston location, and was told the manager was not available. I then called Corporate Headquarters, and spoke with someone there who said I would receive a call back. I did not. I again called the Kinston location, and spoke with a female manager, who in very broken English told me they would not refund my money. I called back again and spoke with a male manager, who in broken English asked for descriptions of the personnel I dealt with when there. He said he would call me back in 24 hours. Again, 48 hours and no call back. I called again today and was told there was no manager. When I insisted, i was transferred to the female manager. Again, in broken English, she rudely refused to pay because we had "used the room." I tried to explain that you have to "use" the room to enter it and pull down the sheets. She hung up on me.
Bottom line, the facility is very dirty, worn, smells bad, and has bugs in the beds. As if this wasn't bad enough, they lied about the refund, never ever called me back after multiple attempts to contact them, hung up on me, and have now attempted to steal my money. Thankfully I paid with Visa, and have disputed the charge.
This place is the single worst hotel experience I have ever had. I would rather sleep under a bridge.
