Room are small, but comfortable. Best prices in town!! The staff is very friendly and we loved the pool! Ships Wheel Restaurant is on the property as well and they have the best breakfast in town. My husband and I highly suggest this motel. They also have a public beach access across the street for all of their customers. Check it out!

In the middle of the night a giant spider crawled across my chest and up over my face. I killed it before my wife knew anything. The rooms are small and dingy. It is an old motel and needs remodeled. Not real clean. If you were raised in a barn, you will like it . I suggest to ease on down the road to another motel. Also alot of noise at night, and drinking and drugs,cursing, you name it. The only good thing was the price.

First bad decision = "Let's wing it - go to Outer Banks without booking something first". Arriving at 8pm we searched desparately for a hotel room with no luck. Two hours later we found all chain hotels doubling their rates for the weekend and couldnt justify the rate for just a quick sleep. One of the few vacancies we found was at the Ebb Tide. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE a great independent hotel/inn probably more than most - all about supporting the little guy and appreciate the efforts most local business people make to impress tourists and get them coming back. But this was not the case. The man at the desk offered us a deal that came in $60 less then everyone else. It was almost midnight so, since we just wanted somewhere to sleep so we could seek out a cottage/condo in the morning, out of desperation we took it. It was a strange place full of strange people. We slept in our own sleeping bags on top of the bedding and kept our shoes on. There was a kitchen counter in the middle of the room which was a bit bizarre. Everything was old and unkempt. The furniture was totally 60s/70s - we tried to think of it as "retro chic" but it didn't work. We were out before the alarm went off in the morning. We were appreciative of the gentleman at the desk giving us a deal because of the late hour, but we should have kept driving.

Your not paying for the Hilton, so don't expect it to be. I was told if I didn't like the room when I saw it they would refund my deposit. The Ebb Tide has 2 long buildings and a 2-story building. We stayed in the long building that the office is in. The room was very clean, remodeled bathroom, decorated nice, good working frig, micro and air conditioner. Newer tv, nice towels. Only negative about the room was the bedspread looked old/worn. Good access to the beach. Didn't use the tiny pool. Clyde in the office wasn't the most personable guy, but I didn't go to vacation with him anyway. We are returning next June and will be staying at the Ebb Tide again! My husband ate breakfast at the place next door and it was good. The BEST place to eat is Mako Mike's (makomikesobx.com). Unfortunately we ate there on our last night in town. It was at BEST meal and the LOWEST priced meal. Don't miss it!! Rachelle from Michigan
