This Days Inn was offering a winter special and we went there for a few days to celebrate our anniversary. We were welcomed by a real fire in the fireplace and hot coffee, hot tea and chocolate chip cookies in the dining area. We had booked a room with a queen bed, and the motel had given us a free upgrade to a king bed. However, we really wanted a room facing the ocean. Only 4 rooms, all with double beds, have an ocean view. The desk clerk was very agreeable, and rebooked us in an ocean view room. With our AAA discount, the price was nearly the same as the room we had booked online. The receptionist was very knowledgeable about what restaurants were open in the off-season, and made some good recommendations. The breakfast was better than most Days Inns, and had egg and sausage in addition to the usual fruit, bagels, waffles, cereal, etc. The cleaning staff was very efficient. We also took advantage of the day pass at the local YMCA, which had really good equipment including weight machines, stationary bikes and treadmills.

The Days Inn Oceanfront Wright Brothers has become my wife and I's favorite place to stay on the Outer Banks. It's an older property but it has been very well maintained and the old fashioned lobby with the wide plank flooring and the fireplace is wonderful. The staff is always very pleasant and helpful.

We have been staying here for a number of years now on our annual anniversary trip to the coast and have never had a bad experience, something that cannot be said of a lot of places.

My son and I stayed here for two days while taking a road trip in November. I chose the hotel because it is oceanfront and was a great price, our room was one that faced the road. The room was a bit small but was fine for the two of us and had all of the things we needed. I do wish I could have either opened the bathroom window or that there would have been an exhaust fan in there because it got quite hot and humid when showering. That being said, it's really the only negative I can think of. The breakfast was good with a lot of choices and they stocked everything frequently. The nightly cookies and hot apple cider was great after spending a day on the beach and the cider was really good. The location is great and is right on the beach and is so close to the Wright Brothers Monument you can see it from the hotel. The staff is friendly, helpful, the beds were comfortable, the linens clean and the WiFi worked great. I loved the large front porch with rocking chairs and the creaky wood floors in the lobby. Now that we lived closer to the Outer Banks we plan on coming back again and are looking forward to it.

Although this inn had many of the typical Days Inn ammenities (fridge and microwave, iron, hair dryer,it was far from typical. The building is H-shaped, with one leg of the H being the only side with a view, and a dunes view at that. If ocean view is a priority, this is not the place (ask if any rooms have an ocean view). It is on the beach side, however, and a short walk to a great beach. An old inn, the soundproofing was minimal, and hall noises in particular could be annoying. The room and bath were small, but my main problem was lack of places to put things down. We ended up loading down the second bed. That being said, I still rate the place above average for a Days Inn. We came in at night to a welcoming fire in the fireplace, and cider and cookies an unexpected treat. The continental breakfast had more hot and cold choices than most Days Inns we've stayed in. The rate was extremely reasonable, though we were there off-season.
