I am not one to really say negative things and always try to see the "cup as half full", but this hotel could make anyone a pessimist. We were stuck as this was one of the only hotels on the island that accepted pets (we have a Chihuahua), and I had trained for the Outerbanks Marathon for months... First, upon arrival around 2am, the front desk clerk EMERGED eventually from the back room looking apparently stoned or high on some substance. After attempting to disregard this, we moved on to our 1st floor room. It was late and we were tired after an 8hour drive, so sleep was paramount. Upon further inspection after having to move some furniture around to accomodate our family, we were horified to find all types of filth. This motel does serve a breakfast, which is probably best for the welfare of the patrons. On checkout day, I couldn't help but notice a stong of alcohol coming off several houseman and other workers in the hallway. I do not like to speak i such negative terms, but stay away. The "dune view" really is a decripit sidewalk that is littered with cigarette butts and other trash. I really do not have any suggestions to management except to close this hotel, effective immediately, hire new staff, remodel, clean up, and get rid of the bugs. Again, we would not have stayed if other options were available. I would not stay here even if it was free.
