A necessary stop, it was late and we were spent.
The good points:
Dog-friendly with a reasonable $15 fee. The room was fairly clean with a good A/C.
The bad points:
Renovation of the first floor units, trash everywhere, only 2nd floor units available and no elevators. Hallways were HOT as hell, parking your car on the back sides of the building was minimally lit and spooky in the dark and the light of day.
There has to be a better place to stay in the surrounding area.

I'm going to give this place four stars for my one night there, even though they did not tell me, when I called to reserve, that the pool was being re-tiled or that extensive re-modeling was going on, or that there was no elevator (two floors), though one is being installed. I would have been very upset about the pool, had I been there longer or planned to spend any real time at the hotel.

When the above-mentioned work is done, I think this will be a really good place to stay. The lobby is very nice, I've always found the free breakfasts at HI & HIE's to be good. The place was extremely clean, though the sink & toilet in room 200 drained/flushed slowly, but the rooms are all being re-furbished, and I assume that will all change.

Our room, though at the top of stairs, was very quiet, and had a nice view looking at greenery and the pool. I wouldn't go back there now, but I would as soon as it's up to snuff!

We really enjoyed our overnight stay here. Clean room, comfy bed. Enjoyed the continental breakfast.

This has been our stop on our way to Florida and back, since it opened in 1985 as a Holiday Inn. This Hotel has always been above average in every catergory. This last stay I noticed a few problems. I was cashing in a reward night. The girl at the desk did not inform us anything about the hotel or the breakfast bar, knowing that I was a Priority Club Member, I guess she felt that I knew everything already. That's OK with me , but bad for other guests that might need to know. The lobby was very beautiful, and the breakfast bar was superior in selection of hot and cold breakfast items.
The room that we had was a bit below average. The mattresses were a little lumpy and hard. The bathroom was in need of some minor repairs. The rooms were clean though.
This hotel needs to be upgraded to Holiday Inn standards. I think they have fallen a little below that. I would not be suprised if they loose the Holiday Inn name soon, if they do not upgrade. One plus they have going for them, is the Cracker Barrel right next door, a good draw for the weary traveler staying here. (One of our reasons for staying here). In closing I will say that this is still a good Hotel, buts needs some repair, or they will lose loyal customers.
