“Good Value, Comfortable Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We found our room to be a typical double motel-style room from the 60's with an adequate vanity and a tub and shower with superior water pressure. Since we had arrived late, we decided to leave the "do not disturb" sign on our door the next day when we left as we had plenty of clean linens. Upon our return in the early evening, we were surprised to find a plastic bag tied to our door--filled with fresh linens, kleenex, coffee, and toilet paper. We were really impressed that the cleaning staff had gone the extra mile to be sure we were cared for.

Breakfast is more than adequate, with fresh fruit. microwave biscuits and sausage, Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, both hot and cold cereals, juice, yogurt, a cappuccino machine, and plenty of fresh coffee.

The hotel is not new and could be a disappointment for those looking for something shiny; but it is clean and comfortable with a location that can't be beat.

“Desperately cries for renovation”

Non smoking rooms are not enforced as our room had a strong tobacco and musty moldy odor. Decor and wallpaper was ancient and stained. No visible signs of remodeling or upgrading in spite of managements claims. Location, staff and external grounds are adequate

“Great location in Highlands, but this is an older property in need of updating.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

We made an unexpected stop in Highlands because of a problem with our car. We chose the Mountain High Lodge because it is perfectly located within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in town. The first room we were assigned smelled of carpet freshener which was overwhelming. The accommodating manager assigned us another room in the deluxe building with a fireplace. Unfortunately, partially burned wood had been left in the fireplace and the room reeked of smoke. We were then assigned a room with a gas log fireplace. This room had new carpet and nice furnishings. There was a large jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. There was a small amount of mildew on the caulking around the mirror surrounding the tub, but otherwise the bathroom was very clean. However, the ceiling of the room was black with smoke, I suppose from a former wood-burning fireplace. It seems that with all the work that had been done to update this room, the ceiling would have been cleaned and repainted.

The stairwells and walkways outside the room are covered with worn indoor-outdoor carpet which needs to be removed. The breakfast was fair -- packaged sausage biscuits, bagels, yogurt, cereals, juices.

Overall, I would not stay here again. It appears that there has been some effort to begin updating the property, but there is much to be done. Because of its great location, it certainly has the potential to be a wonderful place to stay, but it's not there yet!

Thank you very much for taking the time to post feedback on your stay with us. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced while you were our guest. As part of our emphasis on guest service, we do our best to relocate our guests if they are not satisfied with our original arrangements and/or we cannot immediately eliminate any issues with the room. We assure you that your input has been reviewed with our housekeeping and maintenance staffs to ensure these issues are not experienced by other future guests. All feedback-positive or negative-is greatly valued and will be used to better our property. We have been making efforts to upgrade our property and appreciate that you noticed. It is a very time consuming process, especially during our busy season. We are also delighted to see that you were pleased with our breakfast selection. We advertise a continental; however, we have done our best to include as many options for our guests as possible. We hope that in the future you will re-consider being our guest again so we may have the opportunity to show you our true potential, give you a more pleasant stay, and a more positive outlook toward our property.

“What a joke!”

I reserved a room for 2 nights. Only stayed 1!, here's why.
(1). when i first entered the room the fire alarm keep beeping, i called the desk and they sent a guy to fix it (had to replace the battery)
(2). the sliding glass doors on the closet were off the tracks, i fixed that.
(3). The back door to the balcony door knob was about to fall off.. I left it alone.
(4). Sounded like there were elephants in the room above me. They kept stomping and moving furniture around until after midnight!
(5). took over an hour to get the fire going, the wood was wet, i could see the water bubbling from it as it started to finally catch fire.
(6). When I went to take a shower the following morning the water came out brown to start. I did notice some people working, guess they had some sort of water problem. They could have let me known.
I could go on but i'm running out of area to type. Over all i give this place 1 out of 5 stars..
I checked out the next day and found a Sleep Inn to stay the following night..Wow what a difference!!!!!! And to think this was a suprise for my wife on our Aniversary! what a suprise it was! for the both of us!!!! I will never stay there again......

Room Tip: My tip, stay away from this place...

We deeply apologize that your stay with us was less than pleasant. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We perceive this as an isolated incident and regret that you encountered these issues during your stay with us. Our goal is to always take care of any issues our guest may have as promptly as possible, or to offer a more suitable room for the duration of the stay. We hope that in the future you will give us the opportunity to have you as our guest again so we can replace your less than pleasant experience with one of a more enjoyable, relaxing mountain stay.

“Big rip off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

Went to Mountain High Lodge for a romantic getaway. Made advanced reservations and used credit card. At check in they gave us the wrong room number as we were trying to unlock the door we learned that the room was preoccupied. The room we stayed in was the deluxe with gas log fireplace and the room was $120. 00 for one night. When we recieved the credit card statement they had charged a fee of $791.00. The lodge manager claims we damaged the logs and he had to replaced some parts in the unit. The gas logs were burning while we were there and we had no problem with them except that the remote control would not shut the unit off as we were vacating the room. The maid was two doors down so we left the logs burning as we thought she would know how to shut them off..Management claims that the guests that stayed after us could not get the logs to burn therefore we have to have damaged them..We have pictures that were taken in the room that clearly shows the logs burning with the dates and time on the camera. This is currently under investigation by the credit card. company
