We have stayed in Comfort Inns across the eastern USA this summer and they have been great - that is why we keep returning to them. Not the case in Havelock, NC - horrible! We always ask for a non-smoking room - this particular Comfort Inn has non-smoking rooms directly across the hall from the smoking rooms!! Same building AND same hallway! If it had not been late and raining heavitly outside we would have moved on. Instead, we made our way down a smoky hall to our non-smoking room that smelled like a smoking room. There were 4 lamps in the room - 2 of them had burned out bulbs. The ceiling lights were bare bulbs. There was hair around the bathroom. We did not even shower in the morning, just got up and left asap. Steer clear of his place, it is awful!

We stayed in a pet-friendly, double room for one night. There was a long delay checking-in...maybe the front desk girl was new? We waited for at least 20 minutes, as there was someone in front of us. We liked that this hotel was pet-friendly, as we were travelling with our 2 small dogs. It had a great breakfast. The bathroom, however, was the dirtiest I have ever seen in a hotel. It had mold in the shower, and gross stains on the toilet which could have been easily cleaned.

This hotel was a little pricier than others we have stayed at in this category. There was no elevator, so you had to lug your suitcases up the stairs. The carpets truly needed to be vaccumed and cleaned. There were stains on the bedspread and the sheets. I would expect that from a lower class hotel and one that would cost about half as much. But when you spend almost $100 a night I expect more. The TV was old with a passable only picture. The pillows were tiny and lumpy. The bathroom needed some cleaning. The breakfast in the morning was typical, nothing special but ok. I would not recommend this hotel. There were others in the area, and there must have been better ones.

We had a good experience here, just staying one night. We checked in at midnight, and out at 11am. Slept well, comfy beds, breakfast was pretty good. Room was clean, and staff was helpful and nice, however, some were a little scary to see. One housekeeper wore a blue bandana around her head and had one hanging out of her pocket. She was wrapped pretty well in tattoos. Having work for law enforcement, I realized right away there was a gang thing going on, but it didn't take the LE background to realize that. Several staff members were less than professional in appearance, but were nice, just the same. Hotel would not honor the gov't rate, although we were there on business and produced my ID.
