We checked in on Monday and told the lady, we would be staying until Saturday. I didn't check the bill so it is partially my fault. We thought we paid for 5 days. We spent the day on the beach and was looking forward to going to the room and showering and relaxing and much to our surprise, we got to our room and there was someone else in it. We checked and most of our stuff had been removed. All of our stuff, including things that would spoil out of the frig had been put in trash bags and was in the office floor. There were some things left in a drawer and the guy had to drive from Buxton to come get it out for us. Meanwhile I guess the next tenant stole some of our cigarettes. We were exhausted but had to drive 8 hours that night to get home. I learned a lesson, when you check in to any motel, check yyour bill to make sure they have the number of days right. Thank goodness we got back before 11:00pm or we would have had to sit in the car all night waiting to get our stuff out of the office.

The Hatteras Marlin is in great location right in Hatteras Village. It's a classic two-story outdoor-hallway motel, with about 4 separate buildings. Our room was clean and comfortable with everything you need in a motel including a mini fridge. Front desk was busy - looks like they turn over vacation rentals from the same office - but the operation was smooth and everyone was polite and efficient. Free wi-fi was fast (well, I only used it at 6am but it was fast then!) Pool was clean and well-maintained.

I've stayed at 3 such motels in Hatteras - all were nice but I'd probably return here first.

My boyfriend and I are currently staying a the Hatteras Marlin and have loved it since we checked in 4 days ago. We had room 15, which had a beautiful deck with Adirondack chairs over looking the water. It was clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and contrary to another post that I read the room smelled just fine. The reason I felt compelled to write this review was because of Stacy at the front desk. We bought fresh, live lobsters and had plenty of pots and pans in our kitchen efficiency, but none of the pots were large enough to cook our lobsters. Stacy at the front desk brought us an appropriately sized pot with a lid....from her home! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have a comfortable stay with exceptional, friendly service.

The motel was a "best buy" for the money. Well maintained, clean and fresh smelling. Beds were soooo comfortable. Planning to stay again in a couple of months.
