“Great stay, good staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

Since our home office is in VA, I stayed overnight to do interviews for a new hire that lives in this area.
This hotel was beautiful. The staff was very helpful, I needed copies for applications, and an internet connection in the lobby. They helped me out with whatever I asked. The day desk clerk was exceptional.
there is a restaurant with decent food, at fair prices.
a microwave and fridge in the room, pool, gym...
Wal-mart was across the street. and many other places to eat nearby.
and you get a hot breakfast to boot.
I was very happy with my stay.

Room Tip: I was on the second floor, good quiet room.

“Stay somewhere else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

I was booked for 2 nights by my business for work in Greenville. Since my first appointment was at 6:30 a.m., I requested a wake-up call at 4:00 a.m. so I could work out (ample exercise facility onsite), shower, eat breakfast and get to my meeting on time. I did not sleep well and kept checking the clock. When I saw 4:05 a.m. I hopped out of bed, irate that I had not received the call I requested. When I went to the Front Desk to inquire, the attendant indicated that "there was a problem with the system." Not many people request a 4 a.m. wake up call. He could have easily knocked on my door, especially since my room was on the first floor, in close proximity to the front desk.

The attendant's blasé attitude towards my complaint should have rated the hotel a poor rating. However, the breakfast (included with the room) was quite adequate, although the doors did not open until 6 a.m. The lady who runs the buffet was very accommodating and made sure I had coffee and cereal right at 6 o'clock.

I agree with another reviewer that the room is outdated. I had also intended to eat at the Bistro Restaurant, but when I peeked inside, it was very dark and creepy looking. I passed and ate at one of the many well-lit and cheerful restaurants located nearby.

The price to stay at this establishment is reasonable; however, if you are unwilling to lower your expectations of basic customer service, then don't stay here.

“Good but a tad old and dated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011 via mobile

Stayed a couple nights here on business. Nice hotel but feels and smells old (when I first walked in my room it smelled like an old mans aftershave, not unpleasant but a tad weird). Room was clean and quiet. The "Bistro" is really a bar but the food was ok (for bar food) no loud drunks. Free breakfast buffet was great and the staff was nice. All-in-all a good stay.

“Great Stay!”

I stayed here last night for business, had a non-smoking king, and was very satisfied. I got in around 7pm, went to the bar and had a great dinner and drinks with a business partner. We were served by Megan last night, she was awesome- great service and friendly. Good deal on the 2 dollar drafts! The breakfast buffet was pretty good, the eggs were a bit runny and the "home fries" were tater tots, but it is well worth it since it was free ('till 9:30am).

The non-smoking king was very clean, the bed was a bit firm for me, but slept great and was comfortable. The TV was a basic tube TV, no LCD, and basic cable. They advertise Satellite TV, but it was basic cable. They should upgrade to LCD's, would make the room a lot more modern. The only complaint was that the hallways were noisy, and you can hear your neighbors pretty easily. There was someone that was yelling around 4am in the hallway and making noise which woke me up, but nothing too major. The bathrooms are modern (granite counter tops and shower).

Overall, I was very happy with my stay here and will definitely return!

“Mistake”

We went to Greenville for the USM - ECU football game on the 5th of Nov. We were pleased to be allowed early check-in into room 233 about 1:30 pm to quickly drop our luggage before the game started at 4:00. I guess what happened is certainly part my fault as I had cancelled an earlier reservation for a non smoking room at the cost of $159 the day before because I noticed the rate had dropped to.$99 for a smoking room (all that was available). I did ask for a non smoking room on arrival but was denied. We have been in smoking rooms on occassion during past hotel stays and generally it was not to bad. However, this time was unbelievable! The room from carpet to bed and cover reaked of smoke as if the room had been closed up for months. I felt like I was in a cigar butt can with the lid shut. We had brought Febreze with us to spay in case the ordor was a little strong but It did not help. It was really hard to breathe at times and I woke up numerous times having problems breathing from the foul smell, the loud noise of the AC, and the noise in the hall from some type of gathering of friends that went on late. The emergency exit door next to our room was propped open when we returned from the game which was a major security problem that I fixed for the moment. Guests and vistors are supposed to go through the lobby to rooms. The room itself was fine except for the old TV with no flatscreen or HD to watch the LSU -Bama game that night. We had dinner in their restaurant right after the ECU game and it was just OK. However, the service was friendly and efficient.. We finally left the hotel at 5:30 am for fresh air as I could stand no more. Management should try to make even smoking rooms smell and feel fresh and clean. I wish management would try to sleep in that room for one night to understand my where I am coming from.
