Stay here often and have watched the deterioration of this property over the past few years. No longer up to typical Marriott standards. Location sells it, but expect issues with the TV ( antiques ) , plumbing, hot water availability, etc, etc.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The ladies to cook the breakfast in the morning are very nice and attentive.

In Gastonia, the Courtyard and Fairfield Inn are located next door. In fact, they nearly share the same parking lot. They are also owned by the same franchise company. We decided to try the Courtyard instead of the Fairfield, but was disappointed.

The staff were friendly and the room was clean. However, my wife complained there was an odor in the room. The bed in the Courtyard has better pillows and the mattress feels more comfortable, but thats about it. Breakfast at Courtyard features fresh cooked eggs, meats and fruit, but it is also $8.95 a person, whereas the Fairfield Inn breakfast (microwaveable items) is included in the room rate.

What bothered me was the little things:
1) I tried to print an e-mail with the lobby computer, and the printer was down. No one had any idea how to fix it, so I was unable to print my document.
2) Every Courtyard has complementary tea and coffee, but when my wife went to get a hot tea, there wasn't any cups or hot water.
3) In our room, the window would not lock. Granted, that we weren't on the first floor, so it probably wasn't that much of a safety issue, but it should not happen at a Courtyard
4) The hallway had a mildew or musty smell.

Bottom line, we did not see the "value" of staying at this Courtyard versus the neighboring Fairfield Inn.

We stayed here as part of a conference for work. I was somewhat surprised with the little things that, seemingly,everyone in our group was having problems with. One person's A/C wasn't working; in my room, the design of the bathtub and clogged showerhead let large amounts of water leak into the carpet in front of the vanity sink -- right below where the electric plug was! Maybe it was because it had been recently renovated with the new Courtyard design concept, but I was left unimpressed.
