Stayed overnight for a business meeting as I ususally stay at Hamptons because of the excellent experieince. Instead, my only night in Gastonia was met with disappointment. My 2 chief complaints were I left a $40 bottle of Shampoo in the room, and when I checked out I had left it in the shower. I called that night, and they said "There was no bottle left in the room". I assured them that I left it there, and was told they would check with the housekeeping supervisor, and again said it was not there. I rechecked my car thinking perhaps I overlooked it despite me remembering I left it their, and no-it was left there. Next, when I checked in, they asked me for my Hilton Honors number, which I gave them. Come to find the next day when I called the 1-800 number to verify points, they have no record of my number in the system. So, apparently, the folks in Gastonia will take your Honors Number, and if no number shows, they don't take the opportunity to tell you there is no number on your account-They pass it over as if you have received the credit. There was no effort to reimburse the new bottle of expensive shampoo I left.

I apologize that you expereinced problems with your stay. I am aware that you left your $40 bottle of shampoo in the room upon checkout, but I can assure you that our housekeeping staff would never purposely discard something that one of our guests wanted. The only explanation I can offer is that there is really no way to tell that a bottle of shampoo is worth $40. Many guests leave leftover toiletry bottles in the showers/bathroom every day, and the vast majority of those bottles are intended to be discarded by the housekeeper. I apologize again, but there was no malicious intend to discard your shampoo bottle.

In regards to your Hilton Honors number, there is a 2 week processing time to receive credit for your stay, so if you called the next day there would be no record of your points. I have never had a complaint of our front desk staff bypassing a Hilton Honors number before (as it makes it much easier for us at check-in), so please allow me to apologize for that isolated incident. Please contact me directly if you indeed did not receive Hilton Honors points for your stay and I will correct it immediately. “Clean and a good value.”

The Hampton Inn in Gastonia is located right off I-85. It is typical for a Hampton Inn. On our stay the room and public areas were clean and the staff was friendly. Our room came with a microwave and a mini refrigerator, which was nice. The complimentary breakfast was ok, but a bit below the standard Hampton Inn breakfast. The pastry selection was small and the waffle batter was stale as the waffles came out dry and bland. Other than that, I have no complaints about this hotel.

While our breakfast adheres to strict guidelines from the Hampton Brand, I know it is possible to have a lackluster experience if the food supply is not maintained in a timely fashion. I have to share how thoroughly impressed I have been after several stays at this property! There must be something in the water! Kristen, Ashley, Nicole and Carver continue to astound me with a touch of personal service I never see as I travel 200 days a year. This team and level of service is why I will always remain a loyal Hilton Honors Diamond client!

“Clean room and friendly staff”

We recently stayed 3 nights in this Hampton to visit nearby relatives. I booked online after reviewing the positive comments on tripadvisor. We were not disappointed one bit. The room was clean and all amenities were in good working order. The TV remote was actually very clean, which normally it is not in most hotels. Free Wi-Fi was fairly fast and the free breakfast was good. When we visit family again, we'll stay here.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side are quieter

This was the worse hotel experience that I've ever had.

I was told by one of the receptionists that I was in one of the best rooms at the Hampton Inn (Gastonia NC). This shocked me after my arrival. First, I had to request for a refrigerator and microwave to be brought to my room. The receptionist stated, some rooms have these items and some rooms don't. Normally rooms at this rate (Room rate: 11/22 - 11/27 :$94.00 per night
Taxes & service fees: $82.92 total amount: $646.92) has these items automatically. When the items were brought to my room the refrigerator had a cigarette smell and didn't work. The customer service was horrible and I've had better experiences at a 1 star hotel. What gets me the most is that from the outside one would think the Hampton Inn is a quality hotel, but it's not. It doesn't float my boat to degrade a business but my stay here was terrible during my Thanksgiving 2011 vacation.

Thank you for your review so that I have the opportunity to point out a few details about your stay. Unfortunately, I cannot offer a refund due to the fact that your room was booked through a 3rd party reservation website. The rate that you paid is an agreement and transaction between you and the 3rd party.

It is true that some of our rooms are equipped with built in microwaves and refidgerators and some are not. If a guest would like to book either room type there is an option to choose either type of room. I cannot attest to what was offered to you by the 3rd party when you made your reservation, but I do commend our staff for bringing you a mobile microwave/refridgerator upon your request at check in. We keep these handy for instances like this one. If your refridgerator didn't work, I wish that you would have requested a replacement or repair. We have well trained maintenance staff here daily that could have happily solved your problem.

Again, I am sorry that you are unhappy with what you paid, but our rates are very competitive and we offer a high value including free hot breakfast, wi-fi and no other hidden charges. In addition, Hampton Inns offer many promotional deals and packages that can be found on our own brand website.
