“Nothing fancy but good, plain experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2008

Our family of 4 have just spent 2 nights at this hotel and we had an ok experience but nothing out of the ordinary. The room and bathroom were clean (except for a cookie found on the floor from the previous occupants...) but rather small when you are 4 in the room.
Especially the bathroom was too small as there was only room for 1 person at a time.
The breakfast was good, nothing extraordinary but included fresh bagels and muffins and 2 microwave ovens for self service of the various pre-packed items.

“Reprimanded at Breakfast”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2007

Everything was fine at this property until breakfast. I picked up a bagel and split it with my fingers and put it in the toaster. The breakfast attendant, Miss Ellen, approached me and started reprimanding me for using my fingers to pick up the bagel and spliting it. She said this loudly in front of about 20 other people sitting having breakfast. I told her it was my food and that only I was touching it. She would not drop the issue, and continued to scold me. After a few exchanges of words with her, I told her to leave me alone, that I would do what I wanted to do. Later as I watched her refill the food items on the buffet, I noticed she used her hands without plastic gloves. I took her aside after I had eaten and quietly said that I really didn't appreciate her criticizing me in front of others. She said that she had enough of me already. I complained to the manager and she immediately honored the 100% satisfaction guarentee, and credited my account for the full amount. The G.M. said that the health department requires that guests use tongs to pick up food. I own a AAA four diamond property less than 140 miles away and have had 20 100% ratings by the health department and have never, ever thought of criticizing a guest in front of others. Also, I have never ever heard of being required to use tongs to pick up a bagel, let alone split it. Terribly embarrassing, and humilating experience. Not your typical Hampton Inn experience. This breakfast reprimand ruined my stay at this property. I would definately not return to this property, and will consider other properties other than Hampton Inns in the future.

  • Disliked — Breakfast attendant, Miss Ellen, who was rude and out of line.

“New beds are in!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2006

This is an older Hampton Inn, but the great news was they just put in the new, plush beds and pillows. The hotel is very quiet - I never heard a neighbor at all, which is unusual since they were nearly sold out. Many nice extra touches like a bag of snacks, water, and fruit, USA Today delivered to the door, bed eating tray, toiletries at the front desk (I always forget something), decent variety of breakfast items (continental with microwave items). My AAA rate was $80, which is reasonable for this quality hotel. Many restaurants are close by. Very friendly staff.

“Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2006

The lady who checked me in was certainly one of the friendliest in helpful I've experienced in awhile.

She helped me w/ an easy check in and provided maps and even helped me get utensils that I needed. Also called the room to see how everything was, which was a nice touch, as long as you don't mind being disturbed.

Hotel itself a typical Hampton Inn, though probably a little older that the others i've stayed in. This property doesn't have the cloud 9 bed yet, but the bed was fine nonetheless. I was a bit disappointed to see the lack of conditioner in the bathroom, since i've had conditioner at the other hampton inns i've been at...

But room was very clean as usual w/ this brand, room had more than enough space, stayed in a king room...the bed was actually on one side and the side was a big empty space which I thought was weird looking. Bathroom is a bit small, but not tiny by any means.

Parking is limited up front, so you'll have to park in the backside usually, but there's no elevator in the back which is a drawback.

All in all, satisified w/ this property though it is not the newest Hampton Inn i've been at. Also about 5 mins off the I-40 fwy.
