“Pleasant stay, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2010

We were scared after reading all the reviews here, but were pleasantly surprised after staying here. Property managers were very helpful and the rooms were pretty spacious (we booked 2). Rooms had all the basic amenities including iron (some places you have to ask for it). Bathrooms were bit cramped, but that was ok for us as we were out during most of our stay. Free breakfast isn't really a "breakfast" but at this price point we didn't have very high expectations as well (Bread/bagel/cereals/donuts, Tea/coffee).

The managing couple has a very limited english vocabulary which might be mis-construed as their being rude, but they communicated effectively so no hassles there. They treated us to some excellent home cooked Indian food though, which was def a highlight of our stay.

WalMart and Buy-lo or Bi-lo are pretty close by, so you can grab any last minute stuff you missed while packing for your trip. Location-wise Gatlinburg is just 70 odd miles so it serves as a good pit stop if you wanna avoid the circus.

There is an excellent Mexican restaurant pretty close to this motel (Me or Mi Casa), reasonably priced and good food and ambiance. We'll def be back here again ...

“I could stay here for weeks on business!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

Sign says KNIGHTS INN, is actually a DAYS INN, whatever? WALKING DISTANCE to Franklin and restaurants. I checked the room before I BOOKED/PAID for the room, an important point. A desk in the room- YES!! Lighting everywhere, fridge, microwave, another major plus. A comfortable and reasonably firm King size bed. Satellite TV and my Cellphone had a strong signal IN THE ROOM. The climate control had me worried but it was quiet and kept the room comfortable. The bathroom shower only, toilet, sink, sheets, and room were clean with no cracking paint or stains as I have read. Plenty of hot water and I simply loved the bathroom's little crank open window to the woods. The WIFI is only strong enough to work in the continental breakfast area but I used a local business to connect. Perfect for business men, the room felt like home and I could spend weeks in the room I had. I did not try the Continental Breakfast but the area looked clean and watched closely.

“Don't complain unless you want to be yelled at by someone who barely speaks English”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2010

I merely asked (weeks before my stay) if the rooms were clean, due to reviews I had seen. Upon arrival, the desk clerk told us to check out the room, which was not too bad. If we didn't like it, we'd get refund. She didn't want us to stay because we asked if the problems had been corrected. So the way she felt it should be handled was to CALL MY ROOM, YELL AT ME "What do you expect for the price...blah blah blah...and I have to pay someone to clean room. If it's not clean enough, come get refund. I don't want you to leave a bad review after you're gone." She also yelled about my listening to other people's reviews, etc.
So here's the review...She is the most terrible, rude desk clerk I have ever dealt with. I have cleaned rooms in two hotels for a few years, and my husband and I managed a hotel.
Also, there was an old McDonald's food bag behind TV. Paint peeling in shower ceiling, water in shower dripped nonstop, bottom of shower looked awful (bleach does wonders) . Chair stained. Bed had NO FITTED SHEET...only mattress cover, top sheet, blanket, and coverlet. Lucky we brought sleeping bags so we weren't lying directly on them. Was scared to walk on carpet without shoes. TV picture was squiggly. Room smelled dank when entering. Wall by AC - plaster falling off wall.
POOL...Yes it had water, but hadn't had leaves cleaned out of it, dead bugs in filter, top of tiles falling out, cracked etc.
WHAT DO I EXPECT FOR THE PRICE??? Let me tell you:
I expect sanitation, cleanliness, friendly employees, and NOT FOR SOME NON ENGLISH SPEAKING FEMALE TO CALL ME & YELL BECAUSE I TRIED TO FIND OUT -- IN ADVANCE -- IF THE ROOM WAS CLEAN!!!!!
I believe that is what ALL AMERICANS EXPECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“So bad that we left almost IMMEDIATELY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

My fiance was a little leery of staying at the Days Inn (really the Knights Inn) in Franklin when we found out it was only $50/night. I, unfortunately, wanted to make our vacation as cheap as possible, so insisted "it's a Days Inn, how bad could it be?" Had I only known!

Like another reviewer stated, the desk clerk was foreign and difficult to understand, but she was very sweet, and I don't think she owns the place . . . just works there. That's the only nice thing I can say about the place. We're smokers, so got a smoking room . . . but that atrocious "smell" in there has to be something other than just cigarettes. When we walked in, the room was very small and looked old and run-down. Which I would have been fine with had it not been a disgusting mess. The furniture was trashed and dirty (especially those chairs that look so deceptively clean in the photos), the nightstands were sticky, there were ashes and other crumbs all over the floors, holes in the doors, dirty, peeling wallpaper, and suspicious looking stains on the blanket beneath the comforter.

My fiance was previously in the pest control business, so we found most of this foulness when he was doing a check for bed bugs - which, surprisingly, he found no sign of.

After sitting on the very edge of one of the chairs for a few minutes (for fear of coming into contact with anything), we decided we just couldn't do it and asked the clerk for our money back. She did show us a few other rooms, which were almost as dirty as the first. And, no, she didn't seem surprised that we wanted to leave. Honestly, my first thought when we were there was that it seemed like one of those hotels people rent "by the hour", or go to to do drugs.

We went to the Comfort Inn not far away (which I believe was only $80-$89/night), which was fantastic - cannot compliment it enough! I am defnitely a frugal vacationer, but the extra money for staying at Comfort Inn was well worth our peace of mind - we felt disgusted and itchy long after leaving that skeevy Days Inn/Knights Inn!

If you want to chance the hotel, then don't go through Priceline, since other reviewers have indicated Priceline will not give a refund. We made a reservation directly w/ Days Inn for $50/night, and they refunded the amount after we refused to stay.
