“What a place!”

1790! History and charm. Tinker & Vidal greet you with wine - and the breakfast is made from scratch Eggs Benedict, served on china with crystal and silver! Huge suites, colors from Colonial days. Southern living at its best - and we loved the in-suite jacuzzi. Don't pass up spending time on the second floor balcony overlooking Road Street, or the Garden out back. We definitely will be back!

I don't know where to start, everything was wonderful about our stay! The inkeepers were very friendly and the whole experience was wonderful! This is an awesome B&B with private rooms, great food, and lots of history. I have to tell you that I've never eaten such a great assortment of foods cooked to perfection! And the little baked treats waiting for us each night were such a delight! I definitely want to go back and stay, it was very relaxing! This is the place to go if you've never tryed a B&B, you will love it!

“Best Breakfast & Location in Town”

When my husband and I were looking for a house to buy in Elizabeth City, we stayed at several B&Bs in town. Grice-Fearing House is the best. The house is centrally located, immaculate and beautifully renovated. The furnishings are gorgeous but comfortable. The breakfast was the best you will find in Elizabeth City by far. The owners, Vidal and Georgene, are delightful and full of information and couldn't be nicer. We felt very much at home there and spent a leisurely morning on the upper porch drinking our coffee and reading the newspaper.

We have since purchased a house in Elizabeth City and have gotten to know Vidal and Georgene. They are as friendly now as they were when we first met and deeply rooted in the community. Elizabeth City is lucky to have them.

If you want a centrally located B&B with the best breakfast you will ever sink your teeth into, stay at the Grice-Fearing House.

“We can't wait to go back there.”

For us, this was a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. We had never been to this house or the town before. The Grice-Fearing House is located in the Historic District of Elizabeth City, NC. It's a short walk (a few blocks) from the waterfront area and some nice restaurants, so we didn't use our car after we got there. Elizabeth City is close to the Outer Banks, but located on the less-tourist-inhabited Inner Banks coastline of northern North Carolina. The house itself dates back to the late 1700's and is wonderfully restored and superbly maintained. The hostess gives a fascinating tour of the house, including a detailed explanation of its history and the various additions and rennovations that have occurred. The innkeepers are retired computer analysts from Washington, DC who moved to EC to restore the house and open the B&B. They are a most charming couple, and the stay was worth it just to meet them. They made us feel very welcome. They pay attention to every detail with the accomodations, and it's obvious they take great pride in their home. The breakfast was elegant and superbly prepared - the host's pancakes were to die for! It's the best B&B experience we've ever had, and we look forward to going back. -- Couple from Greenville, NC

My husband and I have stayed here 4 times now. We can't say enough about how wonderful this place is! If you are truly looking for an antique feel with all the modern amenities this is the place to stay. The rooms are wonderful, the food is outstanding and the personal attention is at the highest quality available! We have looked forward to going every year since our first visit! This is a must on your to do list!
