I journeyed to Durham for a family event. The Washington Duke provided us with a 5th floor accommodation that overlooked the parking area. We were not disrupted by any noise however and the amazing room darkening draperies allowed us to sleep on comfortably. We used the workout room and found it stuffed with plenty of equipment; we liked the pool and spa area but did not make it there unfortunately; we dined at the "pub" area and really enjoyed the staff, food, and atmosphere. We also ate breakfast in the more formal venue, and again were pleasantly satisfied with the entire experience. Friendly staff, well appointed rooms (loved the bath amenities they provided), and the right price, I would stay at the Washington Duke again and again!

My husband had a doctor's appointment up in Durham, and we stayed at the Washington Duke. This gem was a complete surprise. I would put it up with the Waldorf-Astoria, in terms of elegance, and our room was much nicer. Gorgeous grounds, quiet rooms and great dining options make this a great hotel.

Need a getaway with the guys? The girls? Try it. There are several museums in the area, great music, and eclectic mix of restaurants. I was surprised and impressed by Durham, mostly because of the hotel!

I lived in a fantasy during my too-short stay at the "Wa-Duke" as the locals and well-traveled prefer to call it. I truly embraced my inner WASP and could walk free from judgement with my Ralph Lauren Black Label Mitered V-Neck Cable Cashmere sweater tied around my shoulders.

In all honesty, I stayed here for my friend's wedding in August of 2011. The staff was extremely helpful and the accommodations were clean, upscale, and very comfortable. If I could travel just a little bit higher above the poverty line than where I currently rest, I would definitely stay here again.

The location is not convenient to the city. The rooms are dated. the golf course is nice. The only reason you would stay here is for the golf course or going to a Duke event.
