After 12 hours of driving I was going to get a room here until I actually encountered the front desk clerk. He was rude and condescending, it appeared as though I was inconveniencing him by trying to rent a room from him. After he told me that it would be $75 a night I decided that I would go somewhere else to stay (I pay that price usually for Hampton Inn's). I drove down the road and checked into the Red Roof Inn - cheaper, cleaner and friendlier staff.

I stayed for four nights, nothing dodgy happened but I won't come back! The room is basic - relatively clean and neat. But perhaps I was being rather naive, I didn't expect it to be one of those "drive-through" motels when the parking lot is right outside your door. There's no security - or if there was, I couldn't notice. When I arrived, some guys hung out in the parking lot, playing cards or whatever and it wasn't clear who they really were (guests? just people living nearby?). I actually almost cancelled it (I booked online and opted for a refundable rate, which made it not so cheap), but decided to fight my prejudice. The staff was not particularly smiley and welcoming, but they were actually helpful if I needed an advice, yet overall, the ambience was just a bit dodgy. I was lucky to have met a very good taxi driver - I don't drive, which means I simply don't exist in such towns - and he eventually said the last time he dropped me home, he was surprised I picked this hotel since it mostly draws a certain type of people whose business is questionable (so is, yes, the area). I travelled solo for research which required me to see performances until rather late. If I came back late, I had to ask the taxi driver to drop me right in front of my door, and watched me until I got inside since sometimes some strangers were around, and I just found their stare and mannerism suspicious. That insecure the place made me! So, thanks god nothing dodgy happened during my stay, but I definitely won't come back.!! Even with such slim budget, I do think we have much better options in the area.

The Super 8 was a comfortable, no frills motel. The staff was very friendly and the property was clean and neat. The rooms are fairly small and the bathroom was extremely small, but we liked the fact that the vanity was outside the bathroom. The carpet in our room had a threadbare spot near the vanity, but the room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is certainly adequate for a quick overnight stay, and the price was very reasonable.
