“"A great escape"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I am a student at Duke, and when my mom comes to visit, we always stay at the Arrowhead. The inn is an easy drive from downtown Durham, yet it has a country charm about it that makes you feel like you are much more secluded. The innkeepers, Gloria and Phil, will do whatever it takes to ensure that your visit is as pleasant as possible. Phil's breakfast in the morning is incredible, especially with his famous homemade scones. He always gives me a few extra to take back to college. The dinner at the Arrowhead is also fabulous if you decide to stay in. If not, there are also many great restaurants in Durham to go explore. As far as rooms, the log cabin is wonderful. It has a real fireplace and it really makes you feel like you are out in the woods. The cottage is also great. Everything is kept very clean and in good shape. I always feel more relaxed at the end of my stay at the Arrowhead, and I highly recommend it.

“Comfy, pretty, great breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I stayed here for a couple nights while on a business trip, so my experience may not reflect what you could expect if you were coming for a leisurely vacation... The innkeeper, Phil, was effusive and extremely helpful but yet unobtrusive. I found my room comfortable, with a great bed. Their DVD library was amazing- when traveling alone on business what else is there to do at night but watch a movie? I ordered a bottle of wine and it came up accompanied by grapes and a small cheese platter. He whipped up a soup and salad dinner at practically a moment's notice. My only minor complaint might be the power of the shower- I have long, thick hair and found it pretty much impossible to get a good washing with the weak "rain shower" stream in the Montclair room.

“Fantastic Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

If you're looking for a place to stay in Durham, I highly recommend staying here. My wife and I stayed here with my parents while visiting my brother at Duke. This is our second time at the Inn and it is definitely one of the best Inn's I have ever stayed in.

The rooms are well appointed with great tubs, fireplaces and very comfortable beds. The gradens are also beautiful and provide a very peaceful environment to relax.

In addition the owners are wonderful. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and accomodate any requests.

Each breakfast that we had was delicious and I look forward to having an opportunity to enjoy dinner there in the future.

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

My husband and I spent the first two nights after our wedding in the cottage. We cannot say enough good things about our stay. The privacy was amazing and the food was wonderful. We look forward to another stay in the future!

“What a real Inn should be like”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

My husband and I stayed at the Arrowhead Inn last weekend. It was truly an amazing experience. The Innkeepers, Phil & Gloria are just wonderful, caring, warm people that make you feel like your staying with family. The Inn is the epitome of what a real Inn should be like. Antiques, amazing room styles, great surroundings, a tire swing in the yard, horseshoes, you can't ask for more. But, then Phil whips up a delicious breakfast and all your dreams have been answered. I would recommend this Inn to everyone who wants to get away and have a wonderful experience. I can't wait to go back for another stay.

Room Tip: The Benson is a beautiful room with a jacuzzi and shower in the room and then it has it's own pr...
