We checked in and had some difficulty communicating with staff. Room smelled of smoke although it was supposed to be non smoking. Plugged wife's cell phone in on a charger and the next morning I thought she had packed it and she thought I had. We discovered this down the interstate about four hours after checking out. I called and the desk clerk said housekeeping had gone home and she couldn't check for it. I called at 0900 next a.m. and desk clerk said he would check and call back within 30 minutes, no response, I called at approximately 1100 hours, same reply "I will check and call back in 30 minutes," no reply. Called again at approx 1300 hours, same routine. Called corporate for Choice, lady was very understanding and put me on hold while she called, the very nice lady came on the line and sounded dismayed! She stated she couldn't get a response from them either, but would file a complaint that had to be answered by the GM in 24 hours. The fact that staff was given quick notice then we were put off and no one will discuss our loss with us leads me to believe that not only was someone dishonest in housekeeping, but that the staff is in concert with them to protect them. True, it was our mistake to leave it, but it is compounded by their cover up for a fellow employ. We stay at Comfort Inn's and this is the first one that has been anything other than excellent. We will continue to use the Choice chain, this is just a bad apple in the barrel

We spent 2 nights while visiting for weekend. We arrived an hour before check-in. Were assigned an unfinished room, but they got it completed within 20 minutes and notified us as soon as it was finished. Meanwhile we were able to have coffee and relax in the lobby. Everything was clean and fresh. Housekeeper asked if we had any additional needs before she left our corridor. We did not hear noise from hallway, parking lot, or other rooms. Breakfast service was well stocked. Fresh fruits, eggs, sausage patty etc as well as yogurts, breakfast breads...enough variety to satisfy many tastes and diet preferences. Dining tables and carpet were always clean. Coffee always hot and fresh. Location is easy on/off of highway and close to several major cross roads. It was nicer than another Comfort Inn we have used in another area of Durham in past 2 years. Staff were friendlier and more attentive, and we paid less here. I booked in advance on web. We will definitely stay here again. Very good value for our basic rest/sleep needs when in Durham.

I stayed several times at this hotel which used to be Hampton Inn. Hampton breakfast had a lot of good things to eat. The rooms were kept cleaner and more attractive . Since taken over by Comfort Inn the breakfast is substantially degraded .
The atmosphere, the smell are not as it used to be . I guess you get what you pay for .

Exactly what we wanted, located just where we wanted. When traveling we aren't in our rooms much, so we want clean, comfortable beds and rooms, clean bathrooms, safety, and efficiency. Self serve buffet breakfast pretty much standard, also includes hard boiled eggs for protein . On our first trip, we met a bus of traveling Christian youth choir and their chaperones. On the second trip we parked next to a Mary Kay pink caddy, saw several obvious patients there for nearby treatment, and met both couples and families. Beds were clean and comfortable. 2 double beds, mini fridge and microwave in room, extra towels for the asking. I carry to ALL levels of hotels and B&Bs sanitizing wipes for TV remotes, or plastic baggies to insert them into and use encased thusly.
