Three couples recent stay was VERY pleasant. Staff was VERY friendly and helpful. We needed transportation to Duke Univ. and the hotel gladly provided it - BOTH ways! Rooms were CLEAN and adequate. There is a small restaurant in the lobby and if you check-in early there are 'free' cookies. Hotel is close to Duke Hospital. I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Brookwood Inn prior to surgery at Duke/VA, and we chose not to use the discounted pricing. Our room was not in the tower. The staff could not have been more helpful or more thoughtful, all with a very good sense of humor, right down to the snack bar staff. Considering that most of the guests at the Brookwood are staying there for proximity to the hospitals, it is very nice to have a lovely staff to rely on, if needed. Our room was quiet; yes, there was a fan noise, but we have stayed in more upscale hotels where the fan was much noiser. The room was so clean that not even one little speck could be seen anywhere; the cleanliness was a very pleasant surprise and appreciated. Our wakeup call was right on time. The hotel is a little older, but the our beds felt good as new and were very comfortable (they were not the usual hotel hard). The breakfast was cooked to order and the coffee was very good. The location is an easy walk to the hospitals. We really could not have had a better stay for the price. We would book the Brookwood Inn again and would recommend it to others.

This was a good hotel to stay in overall. The staff was very hospitable and the rooms were pretty clean. The rate of the hotel was reasonable at about 90 dollars per night.My only issue was that my room was noisy, and caused me some difficulty sleeping well.

Firstly, I turned the fan off, however it continued to turn on intermittently through the night. Secondly, the refrigerator is right next to the bed, and makes noises every few hours, which was pretty irritating. Not sure if my experience is unique to the room I was staying at.

We needed to go to Duke University Hospital and chose the Bookwork Inn based on Trip Advisor and personal recommendations. It was the ideal choice. It's only a block from campus and their shuttle will take you wherever you need to go within the campus or town. It dropped us off and picked us up at the hospital (where getting around is difficult and parking is a problem) and even took us back and forth to dinner so we didn't need our car.

Our area had recently been completely renovated. The Executive King room was large, comfortable, quiet and provided everything we needed.

Every person on the staff was friendly and helpful and the rates, especially for a medical visit, are surprisingly low.

Overall: excellent location, room, service, all enhanced by the exceptional guest-friendly shuttle service.
