This was my first time to stay in a Wingate Hotel by Wyndham and I was very impressed and surely come back to this hotel again in Durham, NC and plan to stay in other Wingate Hotels. I had a Perk membership by Wynham and got a big discount when I book to this hotel. The check in and check out were a breeze and the person at the desk was very polite. The hotel lobby and our room were very clean and smelled fresh. The room had a big closet, a desk with a very comfortable chair, refrigerator, microwave oven, ironing board, internet connection, safe, coffee maker and coffee and condiments, and free local calls. The one that really blow my mind were the beds and beddings. The bed was very comfortable with a very light, warm blanket and my wife and I slept like a baby. I stayed in a bigger and well recognized hotels but the beds at Wingate were a lot better than them. Also, this hotel had a fitness center and a whirlpool. Then we had a hot continental breakfast in the lobby with hot scrabbled eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, assortment of danish, bread, apples, bananas, orange and apple juices, coffee, tea, and chocolate. Also, this hotel had a free shuttle to the airport but starts at 6:30 am.

I have read a dozen reviews of this Hotel and I must say, some people are impossible to please. The Wingate @ Durham is an excellant value. We arrived and the staff was friendly and professional. Our room was clean and well appointed. All interactions with the staff were always positive. We found 2 light bulbs out and they were replaced by that evening. The breakfast is what you will find at any hotel, limited selection but everything was tasty and plentiful. Check out was a breeze.

This is the second time we have been to visit family in Durham. Our first stay, last May, was not the best. We stayed in another hotel; the room was cramped, the internet barely worked and it was noisy. No one needs to hear the couple next door happily making noise at 4 AM!

I stayed here a few years ago and really liked it - nice people, simple but very clean, basic breakfast but everything as it should be.

This time, the experience was mixed. My room has a noisy fridge and AC, so I switched (much better). Breakfast day one was depressing - even milk and cereal was questionable with just on shared gallon of 1%. Day 2 was much better (yogurt, individual milk cartons), but neither day had coffee! (both days the carafe was empty). The staff were very helpful, and the shuttle service worked well. That said, one of the drivers was texting while driving and I had to prompt him to drive through a green light.

In the end, all problems were solved and I left happy. But I will try someplace else for the next business trip.

For the price, I could not believe the bang for my buck. I stayed in a king bedroom, and from the moment I checked in, the staff went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. When i requested extra towels, they were delivered to my door quickly, and I appreciated the free shuttle to go to local restaurants to grab a bite to eat. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone coming through the area who want a 4 star hotel for a 2 star price. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm travelling in the area. Also, super close to RDU, another brownie point for me.
