“WOW!!!! We are at home!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

The Dillsboro Inn is by far the most incredible opportunity to "escape" the realities of work and stress. The property and its owners.T.J and Terri, provide a wonderful, magical and spirtual way to "find oneself". But the traveler must be prepared to accept all the positive energy the Inn and its owners put forth. With that being said, if you desire the "Disney" man-made excitement, hussle and bussel, this is not for you. If you desire bright lights, loud music and tons of stimulation, find another place to lay your head. However, if you desire an oppurtunity to truly "connect" with onesself, then you owe it to yourself and your family to visit, get to know T.J. and Terri, and stay as long as you can!!! You will not regret it!!! It is truly unfortunante that all people cannot see past their "expectations" to really see what we all should see......a great place to connect with YOURSELF, guided by the most positive people I have ever met...the Walkers!!!!

“Do not be decieved by the pictures on their website.”

My husband and I were looking for a secluded peaceful setting in Dillsboro. The website Dillsboroinn.com showed all that we were looking for. So I did not hesitate in booking it for two nights. When we showed up at the Inn, its setting was beside a busy intersection. The room promised a view and sound of a waterfall. Well, you could spot a little white water if you had some binoculars from our balcony. The room was far from anything I had in mind considering its a four star inn. Looks like it was furnished from a thrift store. No central heat and air, just some space heaters and window air unit full of cobb webs. My husband said he has seen cleaner fishing cabins, so we decided to leave. We were not permitted a refund, but the money would still have been wasted if we had stayed. A lesson learned for me. Always read reviews and check about cancellation policies and satisfaction gaurantees, before you book anything.

Owner Operator Here....This Young adult couple with a 2 night reservation, peak week, showed up before noontime, 2 hours before check in time and were allowed to check in early, used the facilities, toured the town and area were not in the frame of mind to stay in area, decided to explore mountains elsewhere. They were refunded for 1 night , not 2 after having checked in some hours before with a 2 night reservation for a long time during our busiest week of the year. We try to work with people like this and meet them 1/2 way, We Did. We take great care managing, cleaning and decorating our Inn and Riverfront suites. We currently have a Sanitation/Cleaning rating of 99.9 from Our, Jackson County health department, that randomly inspects our suites for cleanliness, twice a year. Our Decor is well refined and suites decorated nicely, a lot of teak furniture in the more rustic Cabin suites and Pier 1 furnishing throughout all.... Please Do look at pics closely, we have fine tastes. We are not Next to a busy intersection, Highway 441 bridge is down river 400 yards on the Other side of Dillsboro riverfront park. Pictures tell a thousand words, Do not be decieved by someone who simply changed their mind .....

“Scenic view an A plus but Innkeeper Hospitality Gets Flunking Grade”

Dillsboro Inn is in a beautiful setting with a gorgeous river for a back yard. It is a Bed and Breakfast type establishment that welcomes families on their website. To make certain we called ahead at inform the owners the ages of our two boys and were reassured that children of all ages are welcomed. In fact, we could have the room made especially for families, with a kitchenette, grill on the front porch and they would light a fire to roast marshmellows for the boys. Sound great.
However, immediately upon checking in a surely, shirtless man yell from a distance "What do you want?" Thank goodness the Mrs had better people skills and escorted me to the room. While unloading the luggage again the un-introduced man yell that we parked in his driveway. Half the parking lot looks like a driveway but I decided to to move closer to the room but I was blown away with the lack of hospitality if this guy was the innkeeper.
Right away we unpack and take advantage of the hotel's location on the river.
Our boys do what boys do naturally and skip stones in the river. Well the unnamed surely man strikes again and tells us not to throw the pebbles because they are expensive.
Innkeeper continued to do his best not to roll out the red carpet. Has no people skills and seems miserable. Likes to yell criticism instead of helping, welcoming and hosting.Took offense when asked for a grill cleaner that actually had a bristle on it. Advertised Continental Breakfast but it is Shrink Wrapped Blueberry Muffins that were more like Twinkies with Orange Concentrate. The river stones cost a fortune but not the so called Continental Breakfast. I do not know if the owner of Dillsboro Inn was having a bad day or regrets his choice of being an innkeeper. I can not recommend this establishment for families or for anyone based on the treatment we were given.

This review is so wrong and Yes these Particular folks should of stayed at the Holiday Inn..... We welcome and specialize in hosting Kids and Families. Our Parking lot is a shoreline with river rock and we allow kids to throw some river rock but not all they want. Rather we take time to show Children that much of our river rock is quartz crystal river rock and we give away Tons of Quartz river rock each year to kids, and we take time, each time and show and ask children "to put them in their pockets, rather than throw them in the river", I think this lady got the wrong impression. However I did succeed in upsetting them in other ways, but not with the Kids, who are important clients...... Our Parking lot is surrounded by the river and our gardens and this is the Shirtless owner, who works in the gardens on hot summer days so..... These folks had difficulty parking their car in our non-discript front yard/ parking lot/garden.... and as well..... had to be asked not to park the Barbecue grill at the front door of their suite, but a few feet away at a safer location with respect to our smoke alarm system.... as well.... The gas Barbecue grill was turned off at the tank, sorry, This issue that it did but did not work, rather needed an adjustment after I asked the folks to move the grill set these folks off. I am so sorry..... Yes the brissles on the barbecue brush were indeed worn..... Our Continental breakfast is small and includes fresh bread.. But don't accuse us of not being Kid friendly................

“Dillsboro Inn: A Place for Zen!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

If you are going to the mountain area in North Carolina, this is THE place to stay. Beautiful setting on the river fornt with charming, eclectic decor inspired by a botanist and former Florida restauranteur couple who own and operate it. Easy walking distance through a small park to downtown Dillsboro shops and restaurants, this cozy corner provides the quiet natural setting to inspire and retire after a day's activity of rafting, swimming, fishing or whatever you choose to do in the area. Nightly campfires bring out the guests to fellowship and perhaps hear a bit of guitar played by occasional guests as they make S'Mores beside the fire. When you get up in the morning, walk down to the old railroad tracks, roll into the "Whistle Stop Cafe" for the best home-style breakfast anywhere. On the way back, watch rafters load into the river at the park access area, or take a cool dip in the river! Thanks to the greta folks ate the Inn and at The Whistle Stop Cafe for making us feel part of the community!

“Ignore the bad reviews: This place is incredible!”

I almost missed out on this gem because of the few bad reviews posted here. Those folks must have been out of their mind! The Inn Keepers are incredibly nice and this place is wonderful! No, it's not a B&B in the traditional sense, but the rooms are super nice, the scenery incredible and the location top notch.

I travel about 60-70% for my job and usuall check trip advisor for reviews before booking a place. I am still shaking my head trying to figure out how anyone could have given this Inn a bad review or say some of the things they did. I am so happy that I paid more attention to the positives here than the negatives and I really hope you will too. Otherwise, you'll be missing out on a really incredible place to stay!

Feel free to contact me if you want confirmation!
