I stayed at the Wingate Inn for one night during the car show weekend. My father made reservations (he was a dealer at the show), and I went down for one night to shop. My room had a door that led to my parent's room next door. The hotel was booked full, but I barely heard any noice. The rooms are EXTREMELY quiet! I was on the fourth floor, in a smoking room (not my choice), and it did smell a bit like stale smoke, but that is to be expected in a smoking room. I was very pleased with the spaciousness of the room and the large king size bed. The bed was honestly the most comfortable I have ever felt in a hotel. The pillows were pure luxury and I wanted to take them all home. I slept better than I have in a long time. I brought my own pillow and didn't even use it! The free internet is wonderful, and the connection actually works well on the top floor, unlike many places. Plus, if you don't have a computer, there are computers avalible to use in a room off of the lobby. I was a bit disappointed in the bathrooms - I thought that for the price/reputation, I would get a larger shower and softer towels. The shower was small, but I will say that the shower head was very nice, with different settings. I was also disappointed that we weren't given conditioner in the bathrooms. I don't want to bring my hair conditioner on every trip, and it would be nice for some hotels to offer it. The room had a large desk, with a port to connect for internet and computer charging. There was a huge LG flatscreen tv in each room, but the picture quality was a bit grainy - they need to hire a professional television person to come in and adjust all the settings to sharpen the picture, because it was like this in both my room and my parents' room.
One other thing - the curtains let light in from the streetlights outside, which is something I wish I didn' t have to deal with at a hotel that charges a higher rate.
The alarm clock had an mp3 port with speakers, which was really suprising, so I was able to listen to my music!
I enjoyed the breakfast the next morning. I made my own waffle, which was delicious! Fruit would have been nice to top it with, but the syrup was good too. There was a nice suprise - sausage links, eggs, and biscuits! I made grits with hot water, and there were plenty of other things too - pastries, donuts, bagels, toast, english muffins, other muffins, lots of cereal, and 4 different juices, plus milk. I wish I would have gotten the chance to try the whirlpool & pool, but I didn't have time.
Since there was so much traffic this weekend (police directing at every stoplight), we elected to stick to the vicinity of the motel to eat and there were lots of places nearby - 5 men burgers, waffle house, plenty of fast food, etc.
