Found this place by accident. We had just gotten a new puppy and needed a place to stay for a couple of nights in Cherokee. None of the motels there accepted pets! Stopped and asked if anywhere around did and was directed to the Pink. My reaction was, "Is it a 'hooker' motel?" and was told no. I had my doubts when I saw the place but went for it anyway and for $10.00 extra was allowed to have the pup. Walked in the front door of the room and noticed it was clean. I then spotted the back door and opened it up to find the covered area with chairs, picnic tables, charcoal cookers and the Oconoluftee flowing out back! People tubing down the river, some fishing for trout. Other guests sitting out back watching and being neighborly. If I hadn't had to come back for work I would have stayed longer and this will definitely end up being a go to location in the future.

Yep, it's retro and old-fashioned. But the TV worked, the AC was cold, and the folks at check-in were very friendly. River out back. Beds were fine. Glad we stayed. They share the pool / hot tub with the place across the street. And the hot tub was great. Be advised the town closes up at 9. The nearest mini-mart stays open until 10.

I recently had the pleasure to stay at the Pink Motel in Cherokee, NC. I found it to be clean and well kept up. The motel itself has been in business since the 1930's or 1940's. The motel staff is friendly and helpful. While the rooms are a little small, they are adquately sized and offer the same ammenities that you will find at a larger place. I enjoyed my 2-day stay there and will stay again as soon as possible.

I have long trusted the reviews on Tripadvisor to lead me to good lodging and eating and have never been disappointed. I decided on The Pink Motel based on reviews here and a glowing report from a woman at the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce. I have to say, I hit gold again. Inexpensive compared to most of the other places in town. Like everyone says, don't go there expecting all the latest electronic gadgets and granite countertops. It is a true throwback to the 50's and 60''s. They don't even use a computer to check you in or out. There were lots of guests sitting out front and back all the time and all of them were very friendly but left you alone if you wanted. The folks at the desk were very friendly and helpful. But most of all, everything in the room was spotless and worked!. The water pressure in the shower (step down tub) varied but water was hot. Loved the pink tiles as the wife and I are big flamingo fans so it was all perfect. The river out the back door is amazing. The bed was comfy and the AC worked great. Pillows were a bit lacking but had enough on our king bed to double up. The housekeeping was very fast. I will be back for sure. Lots of the guests seemed to be grandparents with grandkids and one lady next to us told me she brought her kids there and is now bringing the grandkids. Lots of repeat business.

But if they are full--only 20 units I think, Cherokee and Maggie Valley both seem to have some very well maintained older motels. Can't vouch for them but I sure feel good about The Pink Motel. Also, Peters Pancakes and Waffles is about half a block away and is rated one of the best breakfast places in the Carolinas. Don't miss that.

The guests can use the pool and wifi at the Comfort Suites across the road.
