“Nice hotel; friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I just stayed one night while in town on business. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean. It was the usual Hilton update: updated carpet, bed, furnishings, and bathroom counter tops but with the old tub/ shower. The bed was comfortable as usual. The room was huge. I was offered club level access but did not go up so I can't say how it was. If you need something close to the airport this is only a 5 minute drive. I did think it was a little pricey , but overall, not too bad. I will stay here again the next time I'm in Charlotte.

Have stayed here numerous times and am always happy with it, rooms are nicely appointed (I was fortunate to get a suite), restaurant is full service and food is well prepared and service friendly, front desk is very helpful when trying to find other dining options, I'll be back when in town again

“Good for a 2-2.5 Star, not a Hilton”

Was in town for a college bowl game and had two rooms on the club level. Found the staff to be very nice, public areas were clean and in good condition (although the restaurant was closed with a sign up saying “Closed due to low occupancy”…even if that is the reason do they want to advertise the fact?). Both rooms were very clean, kudos to the housekeepers, however there were multiple maintenance issues in both rooms and a few design flaws that should never have been allowed in the first place.

Whatever company did their last renovation should never be used again. There were a large number of paint spots on the wallpaper from when they painted the ceilings, the wallpaper was peeling off in (no joke) 11 places in one room alone, and worst of all when they sprayed the texture on the ceiling it got all over one of the sprinkler heads (see picture) and I doubt it would even work now. In addition the nightstand drawer was broken in one room, the safe was broken in another room, one room only had one robe (which I don’t care about but we better not be charged for taking one as there should have been two), and there was a lot of water damage on the ceiling of one of the bathrooms…which is concerning considering we were on the top floor.

In terms of the design flaws there were two very nice and stylish lamps on each nightstand which conveniently had electrical plugs built into them. Many hotels are doing this now as they realize most travelers use their phones as alarms and keep them plugged in at night. Only one issue with the lamps at THIS hotel…the outlets turn off then you turn the lamp off! This was discovered of course the following morning when both my wife and I had dead phones and was confirmed by a number of other guests at the breakfast that morning that were in the same boat. I can only immagine the number of people that miss meetings because their phones died and their alarms didn't go off. The coffee maker was placed on a wheeled table which was a great idea as the rooms are quite large and it allows the freedom to set it up wherever you would like. Unfortunately they plugged it into an outlet located behind a huge bureau with a TV on top and beyond reach so you can’t actually move the table! Lastly there was a pole lamp in one corner behind a stuffed chair which is great for reading however there are no outlets in that corner so they used an eight foot extension cord running along the floor to plug it in. Talk about a trip hazard!

Overall not a bad hotel but the maintenance work was so shoddy it really overshadowed everything else that was positive and was certainly not something befitting of the Hilton brand.

“Clean, but ......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

Recently stayed at the property in November 2011 to be close to the headquarters of a regional cross country event. The front desk staff were very friendly. The room, (two queen beds) was larger than most rooms and the bathroom was equally large. A plus was the oversize bath towels. The beds were comfortable and clean. Disappointed that the water in the bathtub did not drain properly. Also, the room did not come with a microwave or small refrigerator. Since, it is a Hilton, they have a full service restaurant/ room service, but no free continental breakfast. However, there are sit down and fast food restaurants nearby.

“Lie After Lie”

First, look at how many reviews I have -- this is not a one-off review.

The hotel is simply dishonest. Allow me to explain:
1. I paid about $20 extra for a club level room as it -- according to their website -- including breakfast, drinks and light snacks. Imagine my surprise when I check-in and I'm told the club is closed on weekends, this is not reflecting anywhere on the site. And the front desk couldn't care less, but they gave me a breakfast voucher after prodding.

2. Noisy. My room was next to the ice maker. I literally heard it all night long. There was zero quiet in the room. Compound that with looking over the hotel's HVAC unit, which was also nosiy. In the end, I required ear plugs to sleep.

3. Front desk is no help. I asked for directions and sightseeing information nearby. Was told by one of the agents he didn't know.

4. Front desk can't properly check you in. I checked in and tried to get the Internet running in my room. I called the desk and was told I had to return as they did not swipe my credit card. They would not come to me and even accused me of not checking out---when I was actaully checking in

I could keep going, but trust me, if you want a good night sleep and what you paid for, you want to avoid this hotel. There are much better options in Charlotte.

Thank you for taking the time to alert us of your recent stay with us. It is my expectation that we offer our guests an outstanding experience while visiting Charlotte. Based on your comments, it looks like we fell short of achieving this. I will personally be following up with our Front Office and Engineering staff to see what we may have done differently to give a better guest experience in the future. On the weekends, the lounge is closed but we do offer complimentary access to our full buffet in the restaurant which is valued at over $30.00.

I am confident that your next trip to Charlotte that we will exceed both of our expectations. I do hope that you give us another try because our staff is typically outstanding and caring of our guest needs.
